For me;
Yozuri (especially da minnows) cause price is affordable n quite effective
Wud love to haf some rapalas but da price is slightly high
Wud also love to collect some halco, especially da sorcerer types..
Any other lures brand u guys like?

While looking at the shiny hard bodied lures, you may also want to consider the soft plastics. Much cheaper, adaptable to snaggy situations, and sometimes, even more effective.
I have not seen many in the KL shops yet, but some countries are now raving about a new type of lure - they call them " Blades ", " Vibes ", etc.
Try to get a copy of the March / April " Freshwater Fishing " magazine from Australia - a lot of articles on lures in a very readable mag - and probably available at a discounted price because it is an old issue by now.

but if u insist… rapala would be my all time favourite tho… yozuri some are good and mostly still like them, halco? hopeless… well imho lah… not applicable for everyone since its my view
yozuri have some of the finest lure… love them to bits!!! but they’re also some tat are hopeless for me…
rapala nothing much to say, timeless classic… but u have to choose which is the one suits ur application most… then it will work definitely. none are hopeless for me, as yet at the time of writting, have tried almost all of their lineup. just tat they are getting more and more expensive through the years which is a real freaking pain in the hole of ur rear. not as high as some joker japs brand tho, still useable imho compare to those jokers
halco… no comments. still couldnt find a way to like them as hard as i;ve tried for ages
I;ve got a lure tat cost me rm5 bucks and trust me it will outfish a lucky craft bevy shad(n it probably born before the joker did) tat looks similar anyday… who wanna bet? anyone? it swims much better imho
yozuri minnow depends on the locale and which type u r buying mate, will cost somewhere from rm14 to even rm30 range

Believe you, but maybe you should check with our friends who do trolling up in Yan / Tuas, Kedah area.
The Halco Sorcerer is also my favorite for that kind of fishing !
Rapala - OK, Good Lures - Expensive - so downgraded to So So
Yozuri - OK, Good Lures - Average - Rated Good
Halco - So So, Depends on Conditions/Type of Fishing - Cheap - so upgraded to OK</font id=“purple”>

Bros, don’t underestimate Halco lures.
They’re favourites when going for barras/groupers/trolling.
Though more suitable for saltwater fishing, its been reported that they’re doing well for freshwater too.
Back to original question, I have my favourites from each of the three brand listed.
well i do understand there’re scores of halco fans out there discounting me…
i do notice the bigger lures work extremely fine, altho they need lil tuning out of the box most of the time, they do work…
those tat piss me off is the smaller sorcerer and any tiny halco… they cant swims nicely for nuts… given up on them completely recently
having said tat i have a couple of bigger halco tat produce me great fish too… but i only have faith with those shallow version. I wouldnt ever touch a halco with moving bib’s eyelet, unless someone could convince me otherwise which is extremely difficult, judging from the day i use them(bout 10 years ago) trying very hard to like em but failed. i’ll go with my rapala anytime, there’s simply more range and reliable lure in the market
anyway would like to apologize for some misleading statements… i think i should rate halco as ok lure as well, because not all are bad, but mostly are… cheers

I’m just saying, not to underestimate Halco lures (since Halco seems to be the least favoured amongst the discussed 3 big names).
I too once thought little of Halco, but it proved me wrong time and again.
It has worked when all mega reputation lures have failed. Hahaha…
hey guys just a follow up question… what brand/model of lures do u recommend for someone who has no experience in lure fishing?.. recently went to sea tackles warehouse sale and since they were cheap i grabbed a couple of yo-zuri’s and lucky craft lures… i cant even recall their names or what they are supposed to do lol, just saw them and got itchy;)…

Just have a look at all the pictures of happy anglers posing with the their catch, and concentrate on what is dangling from the fish’s mouth. See any trends ?
If there was, then you should be seeing only a limited variety - but you actually see a very wide range.
No lures work all the time - and some are more effective at different times.
It is all part of a grand plan by the manufacturers - that is why we can go bankrupt if we keep on experimenting [:D]

Thanks for all the infor..as for kevin if u manage to grab some micro mag minnow S then u r in luck..cause tat wan hard to find..I was at sea tackle also..Manage to grab a PU based red n white minnow F, glad i went back however miss out a chance to grab a camouflage mini popper from yozuri..I offered the earlier one to my neighbour..(how nice of me rite)also kevin, go for da offerdable branded once cause i have chance to hook up some sizeble fish..
And also in ensure in yur lures list u mus have spoons, weedless frog and SPINNERBAIT!! Spinnerbait sure really work! Right Guy??!!

Oh guys..jus to share a funny experience i haf wif one of my halco(my one n only)..it is a top water buble walker wif huge luminoius lips..u can go for distance but when u retrieve it kind of like sway side ways creating a lot of commotion..I was using it and it was like 3 meters of line left emerald green toman was so curious checkin out my halco n gaf it a kiss then swam away…Wahh, tat feelin really shiok man..
