Got the reel at a real bargain and have finally taken it out for a spin.
First impression: Love the colour scheme, Black and Red just go so well together. The swept handle looks brilliant!
Casting: An absolute joy to cast! Smooth (thanks to the 10+1 bearings)! Distance-wise it far outcasts my SilverMax, Shakespeare SigmaBC and C3 with the same lure and rod used. The cast control knob has click adjustments which to me is something new..and nice. The Linear Magnetic Brakes are great! I only have it cranked up about 4-5 clicks (6 o’clock position) and it does wonders! Comparatively on my SilverMax which is cranked almost all the way.
Retrieve: Super-smooth retrieve! Nyamaoan, who got to try it out yesterday, said that it feels like there’s no gears. The 7.1:1 ratio is fast and will take some getting used to as I’m used to the 6.2:1 on my SilverMax but it’s not a steep learning curve and I’m sure that in no time i’ll get used to it.
Drag: As yet i’m unable to test it out as I’ve not gotten a fish yet! Hehe!
Build: It feels solid and robust to the touch. The X-Craftic alloy is a big change from the graphite frame and side covers of the SilverMax and SigmaBC.
Size: Since the only other reels i have to compare it to are the SiverMax, C3 and a Shakespeare Sigma BC i would have to say that the Revo SX definitely sits better on the rod and is easier to palm which makes one-handed casting easier.
Conclusion: Money well spent for me. Now to get a fish…
wah… finally review is up… Thank you so much… yup, the colour really attracted me to this reel, although the old SX has similar performance & features(i’ve read in some forums) but the new 2010 SX is just so Pretty! Kakakaka..
been looking around for the reel for more than a month… only found left hand crank ones.. I’m used to using right hand crank… although i use my right hand to cast and switches to my left the crank, not sure why i can’t seem to switch back as i still use left hand crank on my spinning reels without problems…
if anyone knows where i can get one of these right handed ones… kindly let me know… can’t wait… huhuhuh… hopefully your review will not make everyone looking for it also and harder to find ler… kakakaka
drag power on the old SX is tested at about 10lb+ as reviewed by tackletour… more than enuff for me ler.. hehehehe

When the buying stops…the wife will be happy
StewartK, may i know what kind of lure that you used that gave you smooth retrieving? Was it a small lure or a deep diver? One important aspect that i looking on the reel that i tested before i buy was it must be smooth when i cranked it even under reasonable load. To test it, put your thumb on the lip of the spool and crank it. When i felt the the cranking rather vibrated, i skip the reel.BUT after you considered the price of that reel though[:D]. For me, a RM500+ reel MUST not vibrate (a minute vib is ok la [:D]) under little pressure.
Usually deep diver put more stress on gear system of the reel. That is why we feel more heavy when retrieve deep diver. But of course there are other factors to looking into such as bip surface. More surface mean more stress to gear system. I also use heavy and big spinnerbait (Hart brand) with 2 big round spinners attached to it to test the reel. So far my 5601C4 past the tests with flying colour. The price of that reel was RM295 only. Since you used a deep diver yet the reel feel like there are no gear, than it is indeed a good reel and well worth.
