FISHING IN OR NEAR PORT DICKSON

HELLO EVERYONE
I COME FROM HONG KONG AND WILL GO TO MALAY FOR FISHING
MY RELATIVES ARE LIVING IN PORT DICKSON
BUT I REALLY DON’T KNOW WHAT RODS AND REELS TO BRING

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT KIND OF FISH CAN BE CAUGHT BY LURE/JIGGING?
OR OTHER PLACES RECOMMENDED FOR ME?

Due to over-fish and water pollution, fishing condition in Port Dickson is not ideal for angler with “must-get” target in mind.
Basically you can cast from shore at selected areas, with 150m 20lb lines and 25lb rod 7’ length, you will be reasonably prepared to wet your line in Port Dickson waters. Due to size of fish available, lure and jigging is too luxury but dead bait fishing. There is 1 or 2 kelong available somewher near Port Dickson but the condition is quite run down and I am not sure it is in operation at this time.

well, i was told to try “teluk Gemuk”, near Glory Beach Resort in Port Dickson. Dead bait fishing, on light tackle (10lb lines) using prawn meat, u should get withings, croakers, puffer fish, crabs, treadfins… Don’t expect size though :slight_smile: was there last week, and caught 2 withings and a few puffer plus one catfish! small fishes, hence the need for light tackle :slight_smile:

Hi IIZoo, Welcome to PD, From my pass experience from my HK friends, they willing to buy reel and rod at Malay. More cheaper than HK. Near the seaside using the tiny rod and reels can easy catch so call " sa chui". Go to off shore at night, sometime still can get so good fish like snapper at Tg Tuan area.

u’ll be surprised we are jigging grade A fishes in PD. its how u discover new fishing patterns to spice up your knowledge.

1st trip, 8 groupers, 1 golden snapper
2nd trip, 3 groupers, 3 golden snapper

so from this test results above, its shows positive signs of sportfishing activity.

*also please practice c&r whenever possible. 365 days of bashing will deplete the resident gt’s & groupers
