dear friends and,[:)][:)][:)][:)]
what best material to form tapper leader for salt water fly fishing. the differences length of leader play important part in fly casting inform of presenting fly how does it work.[?]
normally i used mono shock leader of 5’ long to 9’ with 1’to2’ of fluorocarbon but i found out it work and sometime not[:(!]. cant any body explain it to me coz i want to have better fly presentation without tangles or fall back fly[V].or any thing to do with my casting?[:(]
You can tie the best tapered leader in the world but if you casting is bad you’ll still get tangled leader.
Your problem could be both because of casting or leader construction but I think it is most likely caused by casting. Perhaps it is time for you to see Dr. No and ask for medicine. [;)]
Here are Lefty leader formula. The but section is 50%.
4’ 50lb, 1’ 40lb, 1’30lb, 6 inches 20lb and 2’ 10,12 or 15lb tippet. But this one is for 7wt above. If you want for lower weight rods try to lower the line pound. But Novice said was true. Casting is important too.
BTW is the Tarpon at Sg.Sireh at second water gate near flat area? Was there the other day. But the guard at water gate said carefull because there’s a electrical wire.

Unless you are sight casting on flats for the likes of bonefish in the Maldives, our saltwater fishes are not really line shy nor spooky, and the local waters are not that clear… so a simple leader/tippet system will suffice…like a straight 6/7ft. of 15lb. mono[:D]. You should have no difficulty turning over a #2 Clouser with it.
If you want somethinmg more sophisticated, try 3ft.of 40lb X 2ft.of 30lb and a tippet of 15-20lb … adjust the tippet length to the size of your fly.
The above may not be technically the best, but I prefer to keep things as simple as possible, esp. when on the water.[:)]

Hi there, just wanna know how to tigh the leader to other leader?tq.
Esp. for saltwater, one easy way is to loop the leader butt to your fly line. There are a number of ways to form a loop at the end of your fly line (try googling for it). A perfection loop at your leader butt will then allow you to do a loop-to-loop. For joining the other lengths, a uni knot is relatively easy to tie, and can be used even for tippet to fly…but always test your knots before you let fly.[:D]
hi,pro flyer can paste some image on , because i still dont understand so sorry because im fly beginner ,i also dont know use ?lb line for front leader please advise [:)]

Hi Draggo,
There's a fly fishing clinic this Saturday at TackleBox. I'll be conducting and giving tips on fly fishing - including leaders and flies.
Simonking: I note you are in Ipoh, but if possible it’ll be great if you too can make it to Subang.
