Hi guys,
I’ll sneak in a topic before this forum’s scheduled shutdown to get valuable information from you guys.
As you know, most fishing tournament/contests over here is the chuck-the-bait-and-wait method, like in jelajah joran series and other similar fishing contests.
I wonder if there is a contest similar to those FLW series/Bass in the united states hosted over here in Malaysia. I like the idea of those kind of fishing contests, where knowledge regarding fish behavior, location, weather and strategy has to be fully utilized to gain advantage over other competitors. (Besides, fishing area is not limited to particular stretch of beach or lake which I think is part of the major turnoff for such contests).
My limited research found that BOTR (boat on the road) contest in Kenyir seems to meet that concept, although I couldn’t find much details on how it is actully conducted. You guys have any info?
Besides BOTR, a similar contest in much smaller scale that I came across was a short article regarding fishing contest in Teluk Intan in a 90’s rod & line publication. (Picture of 6 people crammed into a fiberglass boat in that contest was memorable).
Also there was a similar contest consisted of tackle retailers (I think) at a lake somewhere, with an entrance fee of a thousand ringgit. Ouch!
That’s pretty much all I got from my limited research.
Looking forward to your input.
