Actually, I have always wondered what’s the benefit of going micro instead of normal guides?
if there’s somethin new why shouldn’t we venture
it’s all part of life if you don’t like it just leave behind
and if you like it…indulge…
new patch won’t do you no harm…and the rest is up to you..
as long as you enjoy the hunting…errkkk fishing to be exact…
like it or not they’re here to stay…
it is not a sin…and if it is…i’m willing to submit myself
for trying…
no heart feeling then…

peace…i don’t know where it would take me but i’ll just keep
running…
well you can always read up bro.. there’s a lot of views and writting on em… just google it!
be it really good, gimmick or not. They’re here to stay… well at least not here in M’sia yet but sooner or later i guess
I only have 13 years of fishing experience, so must beri tunjuk ajar!
i’ll keep dreaming until then…heheh…
I have a few rods with micro guides. Took one out on the water last week. First impressions, they offer better sensitivity (that’s only of the blank is sensitive to start with). It casts better too. In a nut shell, that’s my view after use of about 2 hours fishing. I was fishing light soft plastics on 12lb fluorocarbon line. For those who prefer leaders, micro guides might not be suitable for you. the guides are so small that even the smallest knot have problems passing through. I feel that micro guides are somewhat more fragile than normal guides. So, just be careful when handling rods with micro guides. These are just my initial thoughts. Until I get the chance to use them more, I’ll share my experience [;)]

hazadin bro, probably… m’sian do not really use all these stuff yet, or should i said not enough… and tackle retailers are those tat arent keen on bringing them in nor think that they will sell
so… we just have to keep waiting…
fishingboy bro, initially was trying to fit those on my 2-6lb ultralight rod… altho i use leader all the time, but the leader i use only 4lb-6lb so no problem passing thru the smallest guide. But the problem is, no such thing here yet… i even have the guides, but don’t have the micro tip… f up m’sian tackle shop old-man attitude…

Well bros,
Fishingboy is right with the cast better and sensitivity to a certain extend and TJS is right as well with the light lines. Actually our Japanese team, working with a university in Japan did a study and test of the micro-guide system. Their findings are such:
The micro-guide system also makes the rod lighter due to their smaller size and hence lighter weight. However, these guides are small thus more suited for lighter lines where “line to line” or leader to mainline knots are smaller. Thicker diameter lines will indeed pose a problem. So the limit is basically line diameter. However, for anglers who are into finesse or light tackle fishing the micro-guide system will be something to look at.
I’ve tested a few rods with the micro-guide system and I loved the feel especially when I cast. Ii is so sensitive it is like an extension of my hand. I actually felt the line glide through the guides. It is like… in golf… when you get that perfect swing and … then the “ping” sound of a perfect drive.

Fish & Fish yet catch & release.
thks for bringing it up Phil bro,
anyway, for those who wonders how small guides able to give u distance? well, minus big bulky leader’s knot, if the line is thin enough or no leader at all… the smaller guides offer less resistance to the line flowing out. This is becos smaller spacing thus line do not occilate or in other term, vibrate as much as if u are using larger guides with larger diameter.
sensitivity also basically the same thing, less material is standing the way between the end of the line to ur reel. Therefore, less vibration is lost due to the process.
accuracy… well u guess it, also due to the same thing… less vibration on the guides means less degree of error per cast and thus precision is achieved.
the lightness is subjective, some ppl tend to place more micro guides on a rod than normal standard size guides, as they afraid the line might touch the blank and thus, damage the rod. But not necessary the case, usually an extra guide or a couple is enough from what i read. And becuase the guide are small, so is the foot, thus making less threading and epoxy wrapping is needed. Therefore reducing weight… however rod builders will have a tough time tho, hahahaha

i thanked all of you for sharing…
we are not as lucky yet i guess and will not get in those bass circles anyway…
most of us (anglers) still…are meat hunters…CNR is taking place…for good..
and the advancement is not hitting us as much as Japanese,European or American market..
but I’m grateful that we still have hope and chances to fish…
whatever is new maybe not good for everybody…
but as a well being we cannot stop changing and evolve..don’t we???
for the knot …you can try this one…

hazadin bro… wish i could… if only i could i already be using this for my heavy tackles… we just don;t have the necessary product over here(the hollow braid)
I only have 13 years of fishing experience, so must beri tunjuk ajar!
well…
you still have time on your side…
maybe one day you’ll be able to do so if not for now…
while others have left already…then the hollow braid came in…
huhu…kidding oni maa…
Is it possible for light lines? I thought this kind of leader connection is only for larger lines classes. I use this for my wind-on leaders, with Dacron.

I find the micro guides to be superb on my finesse fishing rod. Actually I bought this pre WW2 (circa 1946) 8ft 3piece split cane bamboo rod in ebay. Stripped it and rebuilt it with a combination of micro guides for the tip section. I also built the rod so that it can be used for light baitcasting and spinning. I only use my daiwa ul7 or daiwa mini millionaire 1000 reels on this rod with 2lb line on this rod.
I fish this rod in a very relaxed seated position using it as an extention to my arm. The feeling when a fish takes the bait is very difficult to be explained using words. One needs to be holding the rod when the fish takes the bait to actually experience the thrill of using the micro guides.
The tip will some sort like bend and you will feel it in your hands before your eyes can notice any movement. In the beginning you feel like as though the tip of your rod was made from soft springgy rubber!!!
If any of you guys are in ipoh do drop me a line in facebook PERAK FISHING GUIDES and I will let you guys sample some action with my micro guided finesse fishing rod.
Looking for something like this Fuji set?
