gimmick wise, the best company n brand to date
Novice angler here, any constructive advices greatly appreciated. Thank you
every brand, every product and every manufacturer will have (marketing) gimmicks along the way
up to us to filter and find the gems along the way
my personal take:
ABUs are reliable (up to a certain extent) workhorses, value for money
shimanos and daiwas have their respective track records as well as their respective lemons and snafus/goof ups
i find daiwas more robust than shimanos (i like my meat [:p])
shimano’s unprecedented record for corrosion gave rise to a joke that goes: A-RB = always rust bearing
again, on a personal note, shimano’s near effortless smoothness and lightness makes 'em come across as … plastic toys … for want of a better illustration.
that said, i have all three brands … hence, my take on 'em.
to paraphrase FT:
a)proper care and maintenance are key
b) use 'em … within limits
c) otherwise, it’s just personal preference
also, the best or dream machine may fall short of expectations OR we may become disillusioned.
take everything with a pinch of salt, by all means
blankets are best left to their original purpose

walauehhh… don’t la paraphrase me… [:D]
btw, just to clear the air… i’m not a die-hard daiwa fan. i just happen to own a few and are happy with them… in fact i have a few _)(*&^%$#!@#$% things to say about them but this is not the place and time to do it.
everyone’s got their own preferences… so, just let us know what you like about and what you don’t like about… THAT IS ALL THERE IS TO IT! don’t take it too seriously/too personally! if everyone likes the same thing then there’ll be no variety, and everything will look the same…
[:D]
happy fishing 2011!

wahahahahaha … 'tis an honour to quote the FT … ehehehheeh
i like to believe many of us aren’t die hard fans … anything that suits the job will do … otherwise, we won’t have a mixed number of any brand … [:p]
optimise the good/best features and live with the shortcomings [:D]
tight lines for 2011 !
how’s that Hatch talking to you, FT ? [:p]
enjoy guys

lurve the honeycomb ports [:D]
Take a look at the vid
http://lurenews.tv/video/kimo/video_id/1819/
In the mid of the vid the guy is showing which reel for which bait. and the bait on the spr and alphas finesse looks kinda big for that reel, i think the old unimproved calcutta can cast those nicely.
So for those that like the daiwa look but centrifuga brakes this is the money u long to spend..lol

T3 is in already? that’s fast!!! Had it been launched in Japan yet?
Mind sharing how much?
just re-checked on the hearsay in the net, it seems the T3 will only be released in winter 2011 and currently no information on the price and self weights of the reel.
Bro, sure it’s a T3? i love my 1016 to bits and would dread to own a pc of this z1016 variant although non of the design n specs resemble any of the 1016, LOL.
