Hi Rng, who was your skipper for the fishing day?
Where is the location your skipper brought you to?
I was there on 9th & 10th october… I believe my result is better. My skipper bring me to a spots that we landed 11 fishes ranging 6kg - 9kg within 2 hours fishing. Plenty of sotong as well…
Don’t Uncle Masin tell you what is the best way to get Leather Jacket aka Ikan Ayam?
The best tackle and bait to use? His advise are damn useful and effective… i tried that before…
May increase your landing rates, above 50%.

Hi FishBanDit,
Great that your landed so many big fish within 2 hours, mind to share the CR?
Also, pls share the best way of landing the Ikan Ayam (tackle, baits, method to land them on boat which the rate can over 50%). We really have problem to land them even it was hook on their mouth!

hi mok,
Are you a regular with Pekan fishing? Is your preferred skipper ikan masin or boy? They should guide you on the best bait to use. I only managed to share the best tackle to use. Those soft and slow action rod will be nice. Try not to apply any drag while tackling with it. Ikan masin got the best rig for trigger fish. Anyway i used prawn tackle to tackle leather jacket. Heheeee . . . . . Bait? Ask ikan masin lah ok.
That is my way of tackling trigger fish aka ikan ayam. If anyone have better way, please share with us dude. Many many thanks.
Hi FishBanDit,
I am new to Pekan fishing and probably not more than 5 times there. Both of the skipper are fantastic, not only their skill & their service, but also their sense of humor to make the entire trip more “aggressive”!
Well, thanks for your sharing on the rig for ikan ayam, now i know where went wrong. I believe the soft and slow rod play important roles in trigger this kind of fish. And i believe you have great fun by using the prawn tackle triggering them - will try that too!
Pekan are still fishable… On off the wind will clam down for few day breathing.
Contact your best skipper for information on the timing and opportunities.
For sure the result will be better than normal fishing days.
Agree with you FishBanDit. Pekan is always good for light gear fishing.
If there is any slot for fishing there within these “monsoon” months, i definately will join!
