to promote flyfishing in selangor i would like to propose a project to introduce sikang into the streams of the upper gombak and templers park where they can survive.please let me know if you are interested and if you sifus have any wise comments or ideas to share with us.thanks…
i think it’s becoz these places are not linked to the upper sungai pahang or sungai benus, as they are separated by the mountain ridges.good question bro…
I think this needs more thought and discussion before action. I have my doubts (if really there are no sikangs in the Gombak streams)whether we should do it.
you are right tony ,should we have a meeting to discuss the pros and cons?many seasoned anglers are finding this fish to be as challenging as trout and some say they are better and more exciting than bonefish or trout becoz they can be as invisible as bones and as subtle as trout.
Hi Masta Yong … Main reason is I feel we do not have enough knowledge of our hill streams and jungle rivers, its fish and insect life, etc.. at this moment to want to transplant fish specie from one place to another.
I think we should learn more before jumping in. Why not start a “river fly group” first? … I’ll be keen to join.
MY personal interest in this project covers the following, apart from enjoying the natural surroundings:
getting to know our hill streams.
studying the entemology and insects of these rivers which make up the fishes’ food.
the species of fishes found and their life cycles.
how to catch them, with what flies.
For a start, I volunteer to collect the names of those interested in river fishing (esp. small hill streams)… so please email me at tonywee17@gmail.com giving your name, contact number and place of residence eg. PJ, Raub. We will proceed from there … rgds.
That’s sound really interesting… Count me in as well… I would really love to about the insect and entomology of these fishes’ food, so I can tie some local patterns…
welcome to the rfg dron.we will benefit greatly from your flytying techniques when we get some photos of the insects and animals which the fish like to eat.cheers…
