Yo brothers,
Sorry for the delay in the fishing report. I try my best to write interesting story. After weeks of waiting, last Friday night, drove to JB to meet bro Jay. Being not very familiar with the new roads, we actually missed a few turns and he waited patiently for us. He must thinking these fellows very “kayu” and blur like sotong.
We then drive to our destination and stopped for supper and bought our drinks etc. for the fishing. Finally the morning came and we all waited anxiously for the fishing. While waiting for the boatman, bro Jay already missed 2 strikes while warming up at the edge of the lake. There are more to come for us [:D][:D]…
We were fishing in 2 boats. Jay and myself in 1 boat and my Rapala team mates Daniel and Yu Hock in another. I am not sure what is their fishing like but will post their results later. Anyway back to ourselves, the water is not as clear as we wished to as there was rain the last night and early morning. We diligently cast to every fishy spot but there were hits. Jay then use his favouriate SSP09/CRH and started casting. He had a solid hit which his 5KG drag could not hold and the rod was bent violently. This fish is strong man!!
woo.. ay..woo..ay.. Jay tried his best to get the fish out but no chance. Fish won in the end. We spent around 15min trying to get the fish out but no way we could get the fish. In the end, we have to break the line and SSP09 is down by one [xx(]
We then continue to look out for the fishes and when i spotted one, made a cast with my X-Rap Walk. As the lure was swimming back, the fish actually follow the lure very close to the boat and WHAM!!! the fish gave me a heart attack. However, it missed the lure completely. Hard to believe!! Seem to us that the fishes are starting to attack the lures. Jay feeling inspirited keep on casting and yes!!! The fish attacked his SSP09/CRH and the fish is firmly hooked. Jay is not letting the fish getting away but er.. the fish went into the snag again after a short fight. Gosh.. these fishes are very smart, they really know how to find cover. Ha. but alas.. this fish’s luck ran out today. After some good rod work, Jay manage to get the fish out and oh yes, our first fish of the day. 5lb on the boga grip[:p]
Feeling hungry, we decided to have our lunch and we met up with the other group and after eating, took a short nap to recharge ourselves. After the break, we feel fresh and started to look for the fishes again. It is a tale of many misses, in between our next fish, Jay and I had many strikes and misses. Personally, all my strikes totally missed the hooks and I had no chance to play the fish. Jay had one big fish estimated to be 5KG that hit him near to the boat but the hook pulled open. Aiyoo…
Jay next fish was to be a good fish that was playing near some weeds. This fish is very aggressive and it hit the lure when it touches the water. Hm… How i wish those misses i had were like his, fishes that are so aggressive [:D] 6.5lb on the boga grip, nice!!! A happy Jay, a curious Fred who is wondering should he prescribe glasses for the toman [:p]
Second fish landed, good. We were hoping for more and the fishes were quite willing actually. However, most of the fishes missed our lures and some of them were so aggressive that they chased the lure to boatside and yet missed the lure totally. Haiz… Jay had a very good cast to a fish but hee.. he was outsmart by the fish. The fish made a dash to a bush and oh no… stuck again. Jay was wondering if he will lose his lure again. The captain was very nice and he tried his best to retrieve his lure and finally he did. A happy Jay again though the fish was lost. Towards to the late evening, the fish bites slow down and I was giving up hope. I changed my lure to a SSW11 which has a straighter action. I cast the lure to one of the fish I spotted and yes, strike.. no…it missed.. yes.. strike again… er… no… it missed again… ARGH!!! The lure was in the water, right beside the boat and I was cursing the fish, why it missed the lure so many times. Something strange happened!! As I was cursing, suddenly the fish came out of no where and whack the SSW11, fish on!! Oh yes… finally i got my first fish and though it was small, I am glad that this is first fish of the day. A 3lb baby, still a happy Fred that do not went back fishless.
My team mates did not really do too well but Yu Hock had a good fish on the STORM BOOTS, a JAPANESE model that is sub surface lure. Nice catch by Yu Hock, i did not bring that lure along and that will be in my tackle box for the next trip.

thanks for the nice wishes and compliments. We enjoyed the trip very much even though we know we can do better the next time.
Jay, no problem with the link to the Bahasa section, most happy to share the report with more anglers here. Later I will do a after fishing analysis to share with everyone so that as we fished more, we learned more on how to improve our catch rate. [:D]
