Rod Repair

Hi guys.
I just bought a cheapo rod. XPuyu TP702MH Titanium Power carbon.
It has a cork handle.
Lelong price at Rm39.
When I got home, found that the reel seat not properly fixed/glued.
It can turn around 360’ on the rod handle [xx(]
Anyway can I DIY repair/glue it?
Can’t take it back coz it’s well - barang lelong.

Align the reel seat in line with the guides, drill some small holes just penetrating the reel seat layer [do not penetrate the rod] and inject epoxy into those holes maintaining the holes facing up, the epoxy will flow and spread inside, let it dry completely before testing the rod.

Alternatively strip the lower butt, inject epoxy into the reel seat with the rod upsidedown, when the reelseat is secured , replace the lower butt with a new one. Good luck!!

Treat this as a lesson, test the rod, twist the reel seat before buying.

Hi, guys.
I have a butt joined rod for jigging and it gotten hard to separate the two pieces.
I’ve tried waxing the connecting end with a candle, doesn’t seem to work.
Is there some kind of lubricant I should use?

I’ve got a 20-year old spin/fly telescopic rod that’s still in quite good shape. I’d like to have the handle changed, old EVA grip has shrunk. Anyone out there can help point me in the right direction? I’m in KL/Old Klang road.

You can go look for ah peng at the kuchai lama shop or if you want more prfessional finishings then you can let uncle thomas here do it for you. I can collect the rod from you in kl on dec 12 or 13 to pass it to uncle thomas.</font id=“purple”>

Might go to Tacklebox n get it fitted out for fly as well. BTW, any contactnumbers for Uncle thomas? went to his shop before he sold it off some time ago.
