On 27th June 2009, organized by Malaysia Legend Kelah fisher, Mr Jerry Cheong… 6 Fly fisher went to Sungai Tahan of Taman Negara for a adventurous trip…to find out… possibility of hook up a Kelah on flies…
Information from Jerry, we were told that the river are full of fishes… big Sebarau, plenty of Kelah… and even River Tomman…
With weeks of preparations… we have came out with some new flies pattern which aim only for Kelah… the Red Berry and Buah Maris Fly… but we also have a lot of other fly pattern for others… Spoon fly, Seducer fly, Clouser, Craft fur candy, Deceiver, Surf candy, Big and small Nymph, Dragonfly nymph… with all the flies from all 6 of us… we can fish a whole month in the jungle…
On the 27th June…
We meet up at Hassan Cafe on Saturday morning 8am… have our breakfast… the we departure from KL about 9am… taking the LDP, cutting tru Kepong and reach Batu Cave… heading to Jerantut…
After 4 hours of driving, we reach the Naman Negara Jetty…

There… we meet up with the friendly guild..and have our lunch… served with the sungai patin… and their sambai… very delicious and yummy…

Jerry have arrange a very good cook to be in the trip… the next few days, he have served us some most delicious meal I’ve even had…
After lunch… we were transfer to the management office with the wooden sampan… where the registration and some safety and dos and don’ts were briefed…

From the office… we move up to our 1st camping place…

Along the river… we spotted a lots of fruit trees…
Knn lu Dron, its like watching X-rated movies in slow motion…Waiting waiting for the climax…Faster download ALL the frigging photos lah…

Amateurs built the ARK.
Professionals built the TITANIC..
Our camp site for 1st night was the feeding station for Kelah at Lubuk Tenor… where it’s a place most tourist will stop and experience feeding the Kelah with their hands… or swim with the fishes…
The management have had the place properly done up with proper camping area, shower and toilet, restaurant and dinning area, TV & Astro, benches… tents… only thing that they don’t provide are air cond and jacuzzi… [:)]

That evening… we were fishing above the lubuk Tenor… ( Lubuk Tenor no fishing allow…[:(])
With the tourist around… swimming next to us…
Nick only manage to hook up a 1kg sebarau…the rest of us… Kosong…
That night… we were discussing about the right technic to use for river fishing…
what flies pattern should we use…?
what line should we use…?
Does the buah Maris going to work…? ( Jerry are very confident that the buah Maris will hook up Kelah…)
Does Kelah takes Nymph…?
What is the type of nymph should we use…?
What is the size for the nymph…?
What are the others pattern that might be ‘possible’ for Kelah fishing…?
What shoe should we wear to wade as the river are gravel bed with lots of slippery ‘rock’…?
Is the wading shoe good with felt only or with stud…?
or the rubber sole work better…?
Since there will be tracking up the river… how do we deal with the leeches…?
… bla… bla…bla…
and also some silly jokes… just for laugh…
That Night… it was raining up stream… [:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(]
BUT… with FFF ( F- FISH / F- FOOD / F- FUN ) spirit… we are still ready to go…

From the experience… I believe this is the BEST way to dress… to fish in such rough condition… rock, fast water, leeches, insect, hot sun… and travel light… we call it the Matrix style..

Nick have a pair of long ‘puma’ football sock fold over to protect his ankle from rock and leeches…

Jerry’s famous ‘fong keong’ wading shoe…

Some of the photos…

More photos…
From Dennis’s camera…

Two of us were totally flat… after pushing the boat… ( actually… we just post next to the boat.. and act… with Yew Kong splashing the water… special effect…)

The back ground were Lata Berkoh… look at the water…fall… scary…!!!
