I’d like to share this with you guys! I was fishing this weekend near Batang Berjuntai and saw this unknown kaki catch this Haruan on a frog bait. This is without doubt the biggest Haruan I have seen in Malaysia.

I saw one 3.5kg photo…those who knew Edmund, bro of our BenFoo aka BFA, he’s really a haruan master…looks like a Toman at 1st glance, definitely a monster

Air Kuning’s swampy floodplain still holds huge; i mean HUGE haruans. Saw a group of haruan hunter there recently with their catches. It’s just a plain fear only to open their icebox to see haruan swimming in their big icebox. Loads of slimy leeches though.

Head for fish head beehoon, bones for soup.. sedap A1.. Fillet the flesh for porridge, marinated the flesh with cooking wine , pepper soya sauce, meshed up ginger for about 30 min. When the porridge is ready pour the marinated flesh onto the porridge and just mix it add chopped up spring onion and sesame oil for added flavour.there are other way too.. Teow chew steamed.. ingredient …tomatoes a few pcs of sour prune ( wet type ) salted veg ( ham choy ) white cube tow foo. steam for about 10 min ( depending on your haraun size. to check whether the fish is cooked , use a chopstick to poke into the flesh . if it can go thru.. then its consider cooked.. I had not try sashimi haruan . any body had tried? Sweet and sour type dish First fried the haruan preferably fillet.. for a while when it is cooked, add water and other ingredients. Assam skin , tomato sauce , tomato .. add sugar, salt and vinegar for flavour.
Its normal to see mega huge haruan selling at Sunday market over kch, i think not so many ppl in swk into Haruan fishing coz every streams,lakes and even drainage/longkang infront of my house in kch infested with haruan. soon i’ll be coming back and try to get a pic of this mega haruan or I’ll try to find one myself
