Where to find this classic Jeremy Wade book?

I have been searching for a few years looking for this classic Mahseer fishing book that was printed in 1994 entitled Somewhere Down The Crazy River by the popular tv guy Jeremy Wade and Paul Boote.

The latest collector price of that book is a crazy USD695!!! http://www.amazon.com/Somewhere-Down-Crazy-River-Rediscovery/dp/0951790005

Anyone seen a similar copy in KL?

What? Aiyah…

I have many fishing books, but that JW/PB book is one that I didn’t buy. I saw the book, some 12 years ago, in a fishing shop in London, but decided to buy Falkus & Buller’s Freshwater Fishing instead. Somwwhere down the crazy river only cost about 20 pounds then, I think!

Aiyahh…

BTW, Prince Vince: Sudden interest in Mahseer?[8)]

Aiyah Vincent, if you can’t get the JW book, settle for a JB book then. Much cheaper and more available than Jeremy Wade’s. Note:‘JB’- ‘Jungle Bum’

Hi Pantai Valley,

Wow at $246 still expensive! Ooooo fish4fun, I have autographed version of JB book already – tucked nicely in my library.

JB, once bitten by the Masheer and Cauvery, it’s on top of our minds. If you can’t go there regularly, might as well read about it.

Vince/F4F,

An autographed JB book is worth pennies, but an unsigned one, well, it’ll be priceless!!!

Talking of mahseer: I just met Dr Ling last week. No, not the fly fishing version. This Dr Ling is the one who started all this mahseer business in 1997.

He was working at a hospital in Mangalore at the time, along with Dr Khor. He sent a letter to Editor Fong, which triggered me to convince our honourable Editor on an expedition to Cauvery. And of course Prince Vince’s golden trip followed soon after.

Vince: Dr Ling wants to visit Cauvery again. If you are game, you can join him. With Airasia giving much cheaper fares (about RM400+ return), it’s very doable now.

I’m taking a break from Cauvery for the moment. Softly planning for a northern India maseer trip: Ramganga or thereabouts, for the greyhound mahseer. Gonna be costly though, so I’m now saving the pennies…

Another option is Pakistan for the kajra and monster toman bunga (murrel). But with bombs exploding everywhere…

One last thing: I have a video of this TV program by John Bailey, where he went fishing with Paul Boote (no Wade though) for Mahseer near Dehra Dun in northern India. Fascinating. Also have book called Casting For Gold by Bailey, which features the said trip.

The video is in VHS (arrgh!). You can have it if you can make a digital copy for me, ahem!

Northern India, that sounds interesting. Would add another feather to your cap on it.

Best keep your VHS in order before the fungus eats 'em away!

For now, with the lack of time to travel, I shall read adventures first but I first need to find the book!

Vince,
If it’s available on Amazon.co.uk, I don’t mind giving you a hand in getting the book. [;)]

Hehehehe… the book must be superlatively inspiring. Please pass on after you have read it ya, if you do manage to get hold of a copy.

Vince Bro,

While saving your pennies to buy that “wading boote” book, have you considered books by John Gierarch?

Okay, he’s a true blue fly fisho, but he really gets into the “spiritual” side of fishing, which I find captivating. I think I’ve got almost all his books, with my absolute favourite being “Trout Bum”.

I think amazon’s got tons of his books, and pretty affordable too.

For a great read on mahseer fishing in days of lore, try “The Rod In India” and “Circumventing The Mahseer”. I bought both thru the Net as well.

To improve your fishing, try “Reading Trout Water” by Dave Hughes. It’ll make you a better thinking angler, to figure out what the fish is doing “down there”. Far more fun than using a fish finder!

Wow i wonder whats in the content of that book, must have been a good read. Would be cool if can find the ebook version.
