I have received emails from newbies who tried to register but they cannot receive the confirmation email to activate and login to their accounts.
There are a few reasons:

You are behind a firewall (deactivate it temporary when you register)

Your spam filter treats the automated confirmation email as a spam and bounces it. You may check your SPAM folder in Yahoo or Hotmail or from your SysAdmin

This is rare but could happen. Windows XP with Service Pack 2. Somehow the browser becomes super secure and causes problems on registration of cookies.
