Very valid point. Unless they are going against the world economy ( add the latest Middle East upheaval, Queensland Cyclone following the great floods, and only the Chinese Rabbit knows what else to befall us ) I also feel that some degree of standardization by all manufacturers will be prudent for the future.
They should take a leaf out of the lesson learned by NISSAN years ago - less models, better quality, better economies of scale / lower manufacturing costs = better value for the consumer.
Dunno - maybe they have their own reasons.[:o)]

look at all the reels, they’re no difference from any of its predeccesor, thus no cost required for mold
and the retail price, getting pricier with every batch… and the only comparison? swap spool from other reels, different paint job(extremely cheap for another couple of hundred ringgit, c’mon!).
and in the end who make more money? let u all decide… mind u there are really ppl tat would go all out to collect all of the same reel with different paint job, seriously

but still… px68 in a year old. these will come out in a few months time. notice that the smak also has a finesse shallow spool now.
that means at least four running models with very similar specs (e.g. braking systems, spool capacity, drag, freshwater application, lightweight, etc.).
they are really targeting enthusiast market… as in enthusiast = ‘i dun care how much they cost, i gotta have them all coz they look so good, n i already got all the previous alphas n pixy models’
*not sure. but from what i’ve heard, px68 spr will run on centrifugal brakes.

Just heard from PF last weekend that the retail price for MGX will be somewhere around RM1k. Woohoo, something to look forward to liao.
get mgx… wan shallow spool get a super shallow ones tat abu garcia will make for after market part, even shallower than ltx spool. cos mgx cheaper than ltx. tat way 1 reel 2 style can be used not unlike my conquest 51

am surprised to read that the actual measured drag is way off the stated specs although it is on par with most daiwa 103 size reels or shimano 100 size reels, what give? wonder what’s the stock drag washer made of.
