Anyone have Benchmade griptilian 551 series? I’m thinking of getting one as my first proper knife. Any reviews?

You have bring back good ol ol memories, i had the exact great fun during camping times where we need to meet the datelines in building up gadgets from kitchen area to building the fences and main entrance. It was all good fun!! Lucky your senior forced u guys to buy it. We have to resort, to cheap parangs n saw !!..we were never educated about sharpness and time saving methods..ahahhaha..sad to say.if not we could have got better sleep and not being punished !!!..hahahah..good fun days…fantastic

yup ming.. good old memories… just went for a camping trip in pangkor during raya time, and was telling some friends of these good old times… and the equipments that have not been used for more than 10 years!! hahahaha… even the glowstick my friend bought me doesn’t glow anymore… [:D][:D]
oh, and we also use cheap parangs to chop the bamboos.. [;)][;)]

Thats great, our bunch of frends has been talking about bringing back good days as in to head back to the jungle and repeat our childhood fun,till now nothing happens..eheheh everyone cant put down a free time..ehehe..oh well…
chopping bamboos was fun but getting the itch from those fibers is no fun..ehehe.best of it chopping down bamboos with red ants/bee hives is a sad encounter..ahhahaha

Ming, do keep in touch if u plan to go for a “leisure” camping trip nearby… can be just 1 nite stay… was thinking somewhere in Ulu yam (forgot the name of waterfall), the place i heard now fully tar road liao… last time we had to hike those muddy road for about an hour to get in..
u got any suggestions?
i still have a 4 men dome tent (good for 2 person)…

oh.. forgot to mention I just bought one of this Gerber Pocket Ceramic Sharpener for RM11 hoping to get my Swiss Army back to it’s razor Sharpness…
very easy to use, but can’t seem to get it right, last time uncle bob help me sharpen it that time really RAZOR sharp!! sigh…
maybe my knife got some minor blunt edges… causing it to “tear” the paper that I test…

I think youre better off planning..ehehe..cause my frends are pretty ***less..ahahhaah…well ive been to ulu yam twice during my scouty days…one was at this camp site which they built concrete shoulder walls to make it a camp site. No idea how to get there and another one is in this recreation area, still remember that had this water slide thinggy wit extreme mud in it..ahahha..but a nice flat ground for camping.. so ive got no idea whereabout in ulu yam…last went there was high skool days…that was donkey years ago..ehehe..
BTW, you should seek back UBOB, he is still at his old place there. Just give him a call before you go there, he will be able to guide you all about sharpening knives n good knives..ehehe

ming.. i just went to the waterfall in Ulu Yam.. called Sg. Sendat… now it’s quite easy access with tar roads all the way… and they collect RM1 per entry… sad to say the place was packed with ppl and not clean (although collecting fees)… don’t think will be a suitable campsite with the amount of ppl going there…
