1st of all, much thanks to BKKGUY for keeping this FR section live and kicking. he has been actively contributing to this section, other than the infamous KurauKing. i believe that being a fishing guide, he most definitely fishes more than the usual weekend warriors here, and has tonnes of pics/vids to show & share. there is indeed no wrong in doing so. in fact, it’s really quite exciting watching the events being captured i.e bent rods, leaping fish, double hookups, gears & lures used.
to BKKGUY, taking people fishing is your job, and i am sure u must have come across hundreds of fishing gear used by your clients. maybe u can add some review of how the gears held up to the abuse of the mighty mekong cats & the acrobatic siakaps. i’m sure that would add some more depth to ur articles. maybe can add some tackle reviews to the Tackle Review section here: http://www.fishing.net.my/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=96
for those who have not tried barramundi fishing of those sizes of specimens, i’d suggest you try till ur hands become sore, rods break, reels overheat and lures hancur. it is very rewarding actually!
i believe that bkkguy has opened up pond fishing to a wider audience. there are till people who has yet to fish impoundment fish, especially for C&R.
back to the question at hand,
i think what the author was implying could be that BKKGUY’s creation of a new thread each time a CR is up, and is flooding the page. i believe this could be due to the fact that most of the fishing is done in the same place. the fact that he is also a well-known guide adds to the fuel as well. some ppl may misinterpret this as publicity stunt. well, to each his own, i’d say.
like all forums, it’s a free one for all to read. of course there are rules, regulations etc etc but as far as i’m concerned, none has been breached. if u got something to show, there will be someone willing to see.
i mean, if u find this boring, u can always always skip the topic or skip the page & do a search. there is a ‘search’ option at the top right corner u know?
why not all of us reach an amicable solution to this? example:
BKKGUY can make a thread, e.g 'BKKGUY’s AMAZING FISHING THAILAND’topic for himself to post & edit(creator of topic), and keep adding on to the topic until it reaches its limit(i forgot how many pages, but definitely more than 150 pages). when its at it’s limit, you can start a new thread ‘BKKGUY’s AMAZING FISHING THAILAND 2’. all responses pertaining to the topic shall be contained within one topic, and easier to search. if there’s anything new, the pages will be updated. and being the creator of the topic, BKKGUY can cleanup the un-necessary comments that he deems unfit, and do the housekeeping like what some other forummers do with their own topics.
ppl who want to see the new posts can check the thread from time to time as a summary will be shown on the right column at the beginning of the page.
for ppl seeking to contact bkkguy, they’ll know where to post.
bkkguy will save his headache of going thru so many topics to reply to each one of them. he just needs to log into that one thread and is able to read all the replies since his last post.
maybe he can make 2 threads, one for siakap, and the other for Mekongs.
pple who feel offended by his posts shouldn’t click on those threads, and move on to the next topic.
if anyone has a better CR to post then by all means, pls share.
of course, these are just suggestions, and not hard rules.
btw, i do not know both the author or Bkkguy personally.
let’s all get the dust off our reels and the spiderwebs off the rods and do more fishing!
