How did your friend manage to chatch such a big fish with such a small rod? I was told he was only using a 5’ 6" rod 3-8lbs action on 15lbs soft line with a 2000 series Shimano reel.
However, he has been taken over by another angler with a whopping 14.9Kg the day after your friend.

Bro Luke , this pond is in Sg Buloh/Kepong area, If you are from the Plus highway, exit Sg Buloh , go toward Kepong/KL way . When see see Caltex Petrol Station turn to next road on the left and meander your way in . Its beside the Emperor Restaurant on the right hand .

In any case, you should try to go fishing with you. Maybe go for haruan and learn his techniques, since he is the king of fish…
It seems that your friend knows what he is doing. Fishing is not only about luck and knowledge BUT experience does play a big role to get BIG fish…
Finally the result of the catches was anounced, unfortunately my good friends just got the 2nd prize of Rm 400.00 . He was busily unloading his windfall at Kepong Tackle. Though Last night he had a sleepless night. What if suppose thing came into his mind.. .. been busily sms to all his fishing kakis . Buddy save al your energy to fight another

Your friend must be very satisfied albeit being only the 2nd prize winner. I am sure he is not into the money, but being able to reel in a 9.7kg fish with only the first cast when he was there on that day must be an unforgotable event.
I am sure the thrill and excitement of catching such a big fish is extreme. You and I know too well.

Today we celebrate the occassion in Shah Alam, Thought of ordering Teo Chew Siakap, but end up with fried kurau and kampung chicken .. still that gleam of satisfaction of his personal achievement is there. We reckon the electrifying 9.7 kg catch had affected his pituitary gland. He said he will push for the limit..

Bro Ken Chen, your friend is not trying to poison you but I think he wants you to enjoy the thrill and excitement of catching a strong fighting siakap fish. I am sure you will be pleased when you get one hooked.
Just follow his advise on pond fishing. He knows the techniques, that is why he caught a 9.7kg siakap. Remember to keep casting and reeling the prawn. Do not give up and don’t just sit and wait for the fish. Go and look for the fish. Get the fish excited about your bait. And when the fish strikes, you must release the line until it stops pulling, then you STRIKE and ENJOY the thrill!!!
