Empangan Air Kuning at Bukit Cherakah, Shah Alam

Yesterday, Tony Wee brought me to this Empangan Air Kuning at Bukit Cherakah at Shah Alam, Selangor. Yess, another Air Kuning but this one located in the middle of a bustling town. Tony came and pick me up around 4pm yesterday at Port Klang. Upon reaching Bukit Cherakah, i can immediately feel the serenity of this place. The journey from the entrance of Bukit Cherakah to this Empangan Air Kuning is just awesome. For a moment thr, i tot i was on my way to Kenyir or Belum coz the winding road up to this Empangan Air Kuning cuts through thick forestry. Empangan Air Kuning is located at higher ground, bout 15 minutes drive from the main entrance of Bukit Cherakah.

Boats can be rented there for those who wishes to try at the far end of the pond. We was told by Nick Rahimi, the owner of this pond that they have stock up Jelawats, Sebarau, Toman, Haruan, Peacock Bass, Tilapia, etc. in that pond. We was advised to use dry fly for Sebarau and Jelawat there by Nick Rahimi, an avid Fly Fisho too…[:D]

So, Tony and me took the boat out to the middle of the pond. We saw a group of Sebbie swam pass us, quite decent size i would say…[:D]
As usual, i borrow some dry fly from Tony and start casting away like nobody business, Tony was busy avoiding my fly…hehee…[:D]

As usual too, Tony got the first hook up, it was a red tilapia…[:D]

Then some greddy PBs whack our dry fly, really 'Bo Chai Sii" all this PBs…hehee…[:D]

This is a truely amazing place, and it’s only half an hour drive from KL. The fees is reasonably cheap, a person Rm25.00 only for a day of fishing. I was told they open from 7.30am to 7pm in the evening. Type of fishing allowed there is Lure Fishing and Fly Fishing.

agree with you, real cantik place but unfortunately didnt hook up any fish when I went there. However i could see lots of tilapia, sebarau, jelawat, pacu and toman taunting me. Guess the fish were still new and not on the bite yet when I went there.

It’s another good place for fly fishers… only catch and release..

Latest up date… they plan to put in another 2000 fishes this coming week…

Bro… Nice pics. Was there 2 weekends ago. Took the boat on the lower pond (Not flyfishing tho) and landed the greediest/hungriest/dumbest/ Toman there. The fish went for my lure 3 times before hooking itself!!!

i have been waiting for a review of this place for awhile now since they restocked it with
fish.

I tried fishing there once when i was still in school. The fish were huge!but they dont bite.
My bro always said those fish prob run on batteries and i could catch them by
tying an AA battery to my line as bait.haha

I wanted to try this place out since it reopened but never had the time.
Also, I never done other then bait fishing till now.
How are the bite rates here?Consistent?rare?
How about water quality? Is there still alot of surface plants and green
slime on the surface?

Sorry bro… long since you fish…

The place now are only for fly fishing and lure casting----> all catch and release… so it’s about time for you to pick up fly fishing..

The best time to fish there will be early morning or very late evening… where the insect fly around and fall to the pond.

Imitation of Damsel flies, mayfly, Kakatu flies and any winged insect will work… just cast to the gap or edge of the weeds, the fishes are hiding below it…

Beside all those point that dron.fly mention, pls remember NOT to flycast yr line into the water hence making ‘slpaaasssshh’ sound, the fishes there get spooked easily…[:D]

Yeah,its been awhile since i been there.
and it is time to pick up fly i guess.
Oh, noworries dron. I do catch release when i fish.
I hardly bring the fish back.I fish for the fun of it
not the meat:)

Yes,

You just need to let the guard house know that you are going fishing at Air Kuning Dam… make sure you are driving slow…ly and don’t miss the junction..or else you will be going in BIG circle…

1st May, there will be lots of fly guy going there… anyone interested can meet up at Tackle box morning before 6.30am… Zeven will be leading you guys in…

Yes, nice place lah the Empangan Air Kuning. One thing missing though. The place is for Catch and Release…and Barbless hooks! [:D][:D][:D]
