GPSMAP® 78sc

Hi Friends,

Any user of this GPS willing to give advice on this GPS? Thanks in advance.

Bro Piscator,
We do not have this model in Malaysia. However the Asian model is Garmin Gpsmap 78s.

Am using this model as well. My personal feedback on this model.

Faster processor and acquiring satellite speed is fast
New interface of scrolling belt on screen
Compass are much more responsive compared to 76csx
Ability to hentam in google earth snap shot picture into the map as in map overlay
Multiple- function for multiple use. Sea bed map, topographic terrain, running, cycling, 4x4 use and many more. Once the profile is changed, it will just load a particular map for that use.
2D or 3D view for car navigation

Basically that is all I can think of for now.

BTW Bro Piscator,

The model GPSMAP 78sc is pre-loaded with US and Bahamas area of coastal maps. Unless you really do need the US and Bahamas coastal area, otherwise it’s the same as GPSMAP 78s.

We have Bluechart for our country. Very useful for seafishing especially.

satun area would be nice.. easy for me to go back to my roots on wheels next time.. travel thru waters with wife n daughter does not put my mind at rest.. aishhh… hehehe..

Brother, thank you very much for the very informative note on 78SC.
Had used one 76csx for a few times.
Performed well when it was just bought. But after storage for 2 years, it totally went out of service. Never liven up again. Sigh.
