RR…
try using soft wires 1st. easier to bend to shape, and don worry about it being distorted, it won’t. the rings formed as the line tie/hook hangar will hold it’s shape

hai guys…
where can i get devcons epoxy in kuantan?
can i use pallet wood for my lure?
jagung,
u can find devcon at hardware shop, go look around
hv not try using pallet wood but can try as long as the wood has good boyancy
as starter, u want softer wood so it’s easier to shape the lure n get the feel of lure making

Any one try to do plastic lure (aka Keychain)?
Lonewolf
plastics? u mean cut from plastics? hmmm…so far not yet la… too troublesome hehehe
well, u can get a plastic mold kit from the states if u really into it. it comes with a mold, so u can pour the plastic material in and make a lure. costly

Has anyone tried chrome paints here? Saw some on the shelf of Ace Hardware and read about them on TU. Comments please as there are priced at RM 25/ per aerosol can![:0]

No, haven’t try one yet.
Try matellic paint first & see how is the results.
As for the chrome paint, it suppose to be spray on smooth surface.
from what i know, the chrome lure are usually the plastic chrome stick onto the lure body
If you are instrested to make chrome lure check out with your local car painter, may be they can assist. I learn most of the paint property from them inclusive the type of epoxy / lacquer used to paint cars
Lonewolf
Just read off the TU forums that chrome tend to lose it’s lustre after the final epoxy coating. So might as well use the RM 25 for better uses!

Guys,
Here’s some input to make lure making easier when we need to cut the lip slot and yet be symmetrical about it. I made a simple timber clamp with wing nuts and slots cut at various angles to insert the coping saw. Just saw along the groove provided and you have a symmetrical lip slot.

Of course, this is only a prototype and would appreciate comments to improve the tool.

Here’s another tool I made to make life easier. It’s to mark the centre line of a block of wood. Every yellow plastic sheet there is 1 mm thk. Just keep adding till you have the desired height and move the block of wood along the pencil nib.
360 degrees later and you have a perfect line. Also works when you need to re-mark the line after initial sawing off the excess wood!
