walau sam geh (ang moh is referred to as 3-tooth croaker I think)on flies, will it be a sinking line? have caught some at Kem Bina (pulau betong) some months back but using bottom rigs.
Will give it a go next in the next trip, was told there are lots of sua chui too by the jetty, cheers

Hello there,
Sinking line would be best for ‘sam geh’. If you wanted to try ‘sua chui’ I would go to Pulau Rimau. Its south of Penang Island. It is accesible by boat only. Take a boat ride opposite from Seagate factory. It will cost RM25 (dont quote me on this but, thats what it cost me the last trip)
There, sometimes you can catch little snappers, breams, & sometimes some groupers. Its a great place to fly fish as the island is inhabit by trees only with great view of the ocean. I would go light. Possibly trout like fly tackles. (2 or 3).
Flies selection: I would use white shrimp alike, red/white combo shrimp alike, green or green/white combo ikan bilis alike. (They should be sinking)

That will be great, I feel like an alien whenever I tried to flyfish along the coast, even others were using very light tackle or spinning rod converted from flyrod [:D] I yet to land my first kill [:(].

i’m from kulim, but will go after the poons whenever possible! he he
thanks to sild and the entire longkang gang, i was able to find the sg rambai spot and since then never missed the chance to go there,whenever i go back to kulim laa,hehe..
i’m going back to kulim on the 10th Oct for raya, currently studying in shah alam..
maybe on the 11th we can fly the poons there,hehe..

yo bro loban…what do you mean by dangerous?the mud?i once had both my feet stuck in the mud…the mud covered my feet up to where my fishmonger boots are…my friends didnt want to help me and wanted to take a pic of me getting stuck…celaka them…finally they pulled me up…so yeah…i think it’s pretty dangerous to fish there…
