as well as the same topic in the Bahasa section .. they’re good.
back to basics, in no particular order:
a) wotcha wanna fish
b) where you wanna fish
c) ask to try out wherever possible, before you decide to buy
d) budget
e) homework
try out set … ABU Max series (reel only) ± RM160 … or the mid-range inshore series - the new orra inshore should be RM600 and below, can hope it’s RM500+ [:p]. RRP for REVO inshore is RM800+.
better to get something worthwhile … in the event you don’t like/want it anymore, you can still sell it off for a relatively good price, instead of el cheapo - if you decide to stick with it, then you’ll be happy and don’t need to get another [:D]
check with TJS, nyamaoan, FT, etc … all the best [:D]
Actually i usually fish at lombong and pond. Target fish are mostly snakehead. However, I do hope that the set I bought can be use in most occasion. Lakeside and Boat casting, lakes or river. And able to catch most predatory fish. I don’t really have a lot money and I think one or two set of rod and reel for fresh water fishing is sufficient for me. I already got present from my dad, a spinning reel and rod, but thinking maybe one set of baitcaster.
Actually, what makes up the price different? Is it just the build quality? Or also related to the spec of the reel?
graphite bods/parts vs aluminium/anodised metal/alloys/coatings
smaller, mebbe not-so-tough gears vs bigger, stronger gears, machined brass/stainless steel
types of bearings used and bearing count
spec-/feature-wise:
salt vs fresh
spool capacity
R&D cost + technology, ie type of brake(s), clutch,
tested, proven reliability
ease of servicing/maintenance
retrieve ratio - power retrieve or fast retrieve
drag - type, range, actual workability
capability - light/heavy lures/bait + casting distance + purpose specific
country of origin
the list could go on
don’t need to be rich or have lotsa $$$
TJS saves up … and gets good gear
do some homework, research, identify wotcha wanna do with what and why … in the meeantime, save up [:D]
generally, we get wot we pay for … hence, the encouragement to go for mid-range tackle. settle it once and for all.
that said, there are some good stuff that cost a fraction … back to homework [:D]
all the best
mates, if i’ve left out anything or wasn’t clear bout anything, please correct me [:I]
Returned from the Heaven…
double hookup are so normal here…
even quadruple hookup(i’m the one who take photo, see there are 4 rods, 4 lures and 4 fish [:D])
but wait…which creature did this???[:0]
the chompers revealed…
