JB,
Samelah here, my df6 is still in the shipping box, engine oil pun tak masuk lagi. Bought it midyear 2008 before the seemingly perpetual price increase forecasted by the dealers. InsyaAllah, maiden voyage on Muar river in a week or two… heheh[:D]
BTW, when is this OB class going to be held? Need a few pointers before splashing in!

I have already prepared some questions to ask you. My reliable 2 hp was neglected for sometime. Recently when I twist the throttle to accelerate, the engine goes hay wire and stops. I have discovered one way to return home in the middle of the lake, that was to pull the choke and it worked. But it worked when the throttle was at certain position only, less than it or more than it the engine would misfire and stop too.
What is the likely cause? Can you help out?
I’ve experienced the same with Honda BF15. Sometimes the engine cannot idle, difficult to start and some time cannot run at low speed (must be full throttle all the way!)
The answer is: clogged carburetor!
You know once the petrol inside the carburetor have been totally dried up upon vaporization during storage, it is likely to left some powdery residue. It could be lead substitute from the fuel (unleaded fuel used some sort of chemical to substitute plumbum) or corrosion from aluminum parts (the carburetor component itself)
On your next trip, with fresh petrol came into the carburetor, those powdery residue then goes into those tiny holes and passage inside the carburetor mainly at pilot jet and main jet (this is where fuel atomization mixture take place). the fuel atomization then cannot take place perfectly due to restricted air passage and fuel hole causing erratic engine behavior.
Just take the carburetor out for thorough cleaning and service.
One thing you can do before keeping the engine in storage is running the engine with petrol mixed with 2T for a short while (like those 2 strokes counterparts), disconnect the fuel supply and let it run until the engine dies off by itself (ran out of fuel). The 2T acts like a protective film against corrosion. that should do the trick…

Looking for a outboard for my Bass Raider, wonder if the Suzuki D6 fit. Bob say it is a tat too heavy as the boat is suited for 4hp and below. I googled and saw the Yamaha 4hp 4 stroke. Do you guys have any experience or info on this OB?

yo brudder, if you look after web cataloq from main OBM manufacturers, those are applicable for US market. due to stricter environment control over there, only 4 strokes OBM passed those emission control regulation. US is very particular to deal with air pollution issues, hence they won’t allow products which cannot meet the regulation such as CARB.
if you check with local OBM dealers, 2 strokes is still available since in here no such emission control regulation.

Guys,
Latest on the OBM clinic. The venue would most probably be at Wisma Sea Tackle on a Saturday afternoon. Requires a place where we can rev the OBM and have water supply to fill the test drum.
Will post when everything is confirmed.
Wahoo,
You ok with Saturday afternoons? Another thing, do we need to make any modifications to the test drum for you to attach the OBM?
KO for me if on Saturday - my BMW workshop opens till 5pm mahh…
Sunday la.. mebbe we can arrange an outdoor clinic - meaning after the OBM clinic, off you go fishing straight away…

Sunday ah? Dont know whether can get the place open or not? Will try to talk to Sea Tackle.
The venue must have easy access from KL and PJ and have water piping to fill the test drum. If go to the wild, must use pail to get the water pula.
If at Kelana Jaya lakes, MBPJ might not allow as it is a workshop of sorts.
Some more, the pro-tem committee of either CABAI, DOCSYED, CIBA*I have to meet after the clinic to discuss the future of its establishment.
To make things easy for me, lets confirm the following:

As far as i know (when I was doing research to buy outboard), they don’t carry this product here in mesia. Don’t know whether they changed their mind…
How about in local dam such as Klang Gates, Subang, Semenyih or Pangsun? Mebbe PeMM can write to Puncak Niaga seeking their approval… howzat? I think Ridzuan can arrange for that…
wahhh if can, yahoooo!!! takut nanti clinic tak jadi, pancing jadi first priority… hahahah [:D]
