Zuju Bro,

If you take a kid fishing out of kindness for a day or two and later the kid wants to fish but you are not around, how is he going to solve his longing of going to fish?

The problem is not about taking a kid to go fishing. But opening up more opportunities for fishing. Just take a look at so many lakes in our gardens around Kuala Lumpur, they are all out of fishing. If these lakes are open, I am sure many many kids would go fishing even without us taking them.

So I think the problem lies not with the kids having no opportunities, but the authorities need to change their mind set to provide venues for fishing.

Fishing is a healthy hobby. Unfortunately many government agencies dont realise this.</font id=“purple”>

Yes, you are right. However, our aim here is to take out these kids for a trip, whether they are passionate about fishing or not.

When we started this program, we were imagining how it’s like in those orphanages for those kids. Crammed rooms, no space of your own, no interaction with other people other than fellow kids and the guardians. Worse, no father/mother figure to lean on to.

So we thought, why not we be “uncles for the day” for these kids, for a day, to take them out of their dreary routine.

Still, your thoughts have triggered an idea: maybe we should follow-up with the previous two houses (Ozanam House and Darul Izzah), and do repeat outings. Later, we can select those with real fishing zeal and bring them to say Taman Negara (wahhh!!) for a real adventure!

In the previous two editions, we had great support from the likes of KFC (the kids loved the food vouchers), Rod&Line, and individuals like Sargent and AC. We are forever be in need of this kind of support. If you guys got “braided line” to any keen organisations, do tell!
