Talked to he reporter who have been seeing Putrajaya and Perak Fisheries Department. Sadly they are not aware about the damages these fishes can do to the ecosystem (those big guns).
AND they have almost no control of fishes that is ‘flying’ in our country eitehr for aquaculture or aquarist.

Face it guys, there would not be any positive action unless there is political motivation or interest! We can cull the PBs till kingdom come(in our dreams) but another species would just take its place!
As I have always said, the problem is with the “free hand” in the importation of species in the name of “pet trade”.
Nip this problem and the alien fish menace would be dramatically reduced.
Correct me if I am wrong but I think that is Perhilitan’s problem. If we can convince them on the necessity of stricter guidelines, we would have half the battle won!
Just pop into a well stocked (not Chinaman operated) pet shop and you have practically any kind of pet that you wish; even venomous snakes and spiders! Go figure![:(]
I have been invited to the Bernama TV studio (channel 502), this coming 23rd (10pm, I think). the topic? Alien fishes!!!
The other guest is Dato’ Ahmad Taib, former NST Chief Editor.
I will definitely give my views, controversial or not! If you guys have novel opinions you want shared, do email me!

JB,
Good that you have been invited to speak not only on the angler’s behalf but all concerned Malaysians.
The respective Govt depts should be made aware in no uncertain terms of the invasive alien species and the effects of its introduction to our eco-system! Hopefully, you can drive the point home and change the ignorance on their part!
It would be the “icing on the cake” if Fisheries and Perhilitan is made available on set to “defend” their stance on the problem.
Hey Ayaak Bro, thanx for the info! Man, dat’s one mega report lah! I will have to, er, “ayak” (filter) the contents and use the juicy parts…[:)]
RainBro: Hmm, dragging Fisheries and Perhilitan to the studio sounds good lah! NO, not for a session of target-shooting, more for a balanced discussion. Let’s see whether I can tickle somebody’s ear…[;)]
We already have exotic species from Northern and Southern America here to stay; pb, aligator gar, pike, arapaima … what next? Do they need to wait and continue to ignore the issue till one fine day some alec release fearful pi**na into the water?? Just throw some questions see how the representatives response. But most likely we will continue to bang our head against the wall.

JB,
I dont mean to drag them in for target practice but to get their immediate response when you tell them about whats really happening in the real world!
If they are not there personally to answer your points on the spot, they would have a press release at a later date that they will look into the matter; the Standard Operational Procedure to buy time and eventually hopefully forgotten by the public.
BTW, latest news: the program on Bernama TV will not be a live one (no CNR, I guess), but recorded at 8pm on Thursday. Now I dont yet know exactly what time it’l be aired. Stay tuned…

It would be great if viewers can call in to “ask” questions and present their views!
Astro’s phone lines would be congested with calls from MFN forummers![:D]
Reported by boatman Pak Nawi, few PBs landed near Tasik Raban, upstream of Chederoh not far from the bridge. Seems like the species breading well as more and more were landed over the period of 1 yr. Understand from the boatman some were culled while others released it.
Guess up to individual to decide what’s right what wrong as there is no law in the country that stipulate what to do. So no point to fight over the matter.
