We’re thrilled to announce… the MFN Revival Project is live!
Yes, the old forum many of us grew up with — swapped tales, shared photos, argued about knots — is back, and better than ever (okay, we’re trying 
).

We invite all our original members to return, reclaim your accounts (using your old email), and reset your passwords to dive right back in.
Massive thanks to Vincent, the wise one who backed up the original MFN forum and passed it on in hopes it might one day be revived. Today’s that day.
The Tech Bit (Skip If You’re Just Here to Fish)
Reviving MFN wasn’t easy. The old system was… well, a bit vintage.
We faced schema fossils, broken migrations, and 2000s-era username wizardry. But with some persistence (and a fair bit of AI magic), we’ve successfully imported 800,000+ posts into a shiny new Discourse-powered home.
What’s New?
- Modern UI (mobile-friendly too!)
- Groups — Perfect for fishing clubs to have their own private spaces
- Notifications, tagging, better search — no more digging through page 47 of a thread
It’ll take a little getting used to — especially for those of us whose hairlines (and memories) may have receded since the MFN heyday — but you’ll settle in quickly.
Some Quick Notes
- Usernames:
You’ll notice your username might look likeXX_9999. That’s because some of our OG usernames were too legendary for modern systems to handle.
Don’t worry — check your post history, verify it’s you, and you can update your username anytime. - Images:
Many images hosted on services like Photobucket may not have survived. If you still have your originals, we’d love for you to re-upload them and bring those old memories back to life. - Posts:
With over 800K posts imported, some glitches or duplicates may have crept in. If you notice anything weird, flag it or let us know — we’re still tidying up the reef. - Signatures:
Discourse does not support repetitive signatures to avoid clutter, so your signatures have been migrated into your bio. However badges will be added soon to represent clubs/achievements etc.
