Sorry long time no login… the place is at Singkir, on the way to Tg. Dawai. There’s a fish pond there and a friend of mine knows the owner, so we went in to help him harvest the fish. Got 2 ponds, one for siakap, one for kerapu.

We observe that the KL fly fishos cast really well and tie really good looking and realistic flies. Whereas the Penang boys cannot cast very well and dont tie very nice flies.
But we notice that we still catch a lot of fish.
So the question is whether casting well and tying realistic flies really makes any difference in catching fish or not?
Aiyoo… master, tak kan tak tau. pak amin always says that fly fishing is an art. fly tying is also an art too. if you cant tie flies, it looks like you know how to use baitcaster but u still need to buy a rapala.
If a new guy come and fish beside you. I can guarantee, you will interested to see the way he cast. whether he can form a great loop & presentation rather than to see his catch.
so, what is the matter of catching more fish & ignoring the essence of fly fishing?
How do you observe KL fly fishos didnt catch much?
may be bcoz KL fly fishos always cast on the field??.. hahaha…

I didn’t say that KL Fly fishos don’t catch much. All I said is that Penang Kias do not cast very well nor do they tie very pretty flies but they are very artful in catching alot of fish.
I didn’t know that KL Fly Fishos cast on the field either. Is that true ? I wonder what they are trying to catch… But I know that in Penang one of our Penang Kias always cast in the field. His name is Nique. Whilst all of us are busy casting for Ikan Pompano in the water, he is busy casting for Ikan Pompuan on the field…
Perhaps the KL Kias are also doing the same thing as Nique… They must be casting to the Ikan Pompuan at the field outside tacklebox.
