Tracking Monster Toman Trace By BKKGUY

Damn me !!! Everyday think of toman fishing.
The more you fish toman, the bigger toman you want to target.

Toman fishing is just like drug, is an addiction in life.
No other fish in feshwater in asia can match up to their strong fights.

Whenever I heard of rumours about monster toman sightings, I’ll not hesitate to drive up to investigate it.

Someone told me further up west of bkk, there is a sightings of monster toman at a private reservoir. One of the boatman landed a monster 18KG toman on ‘lure’ (how advance is the boatman here.. haha ). Averg size of 4-5KG and 8-12KG is common here.

My local source further informed me that the monster toman is hard to fish. They only surface for breathing every 20-30 mins unlike the smaller toman. Moreover, this April month is not the good season for them.

I told him not to worry, I’m just coming down to confirm the rumour about the monster toman spot and at the same time to check out the place. If the rumour is indeed true, will make a 2nd trip down during the right season to get those monster toman again.

A good angler, must be able to fish in any given wild spots.
Must be able to read and anticipate the surroundings in the nature.
What to lookout for when out in the wild ??? What lures to use ???
All these, you need to pesonally experience it in the field yourself then you’ll learn HARD and be a good toman angler in the wild.

Enjoys the action in this video clip..

With only a local contact no. and a map in one hand, I’m crazy enough to drive some 200Km to check out the monster spot.

Highlights photos…

Manage to land a 3.8KG toman for this 1st trip. Not so bad , given the facts it not the season yet.

Did spot some big toman coming up to the surface to breaths.
They just not interested to take my lure !!!

Hmmm… got to make a return trip soon to get them for sure.

Love the challenge !!!

Here come my catch report…

With a map and a contact, I make my journey…

I set off from my house at 12.30AM midnight.

Pay the highways tolls way…

Top up gas along the way…

More distants to cover to his undisclose toman location.
Whenever I think I’m going to lost my way, I’ll then make a phone call to the boatman.. Trust me, calling someone at 3.00AM in wee morning to ask for direction, really no joke man… haha !!!

I reached the toman location early then expected at 4.00AM morning.
Have a good chat with the boatman regarding the next morning fishing.

Enquired him about the rumour catch of 18KG toman. Did he kill it for food ??? He said he fought the monster toman for 1 hr , the fibre boat he uses for fishing, with 1 more of his friend onboard , was been pulled & towed by this monster toman. The toman was swimming round & round the boat. Eventually after he managed to land it, he brought the monster toman back home (3km drive away) to show his wife. His wife told him to release him back as this is something very rare. Till today, this monster toman still living in this lake which is good news for me…

We chatted about toman topic (he is an avid toman angler too) for like 1hr to 5.00AM before I retreated back to my room to take some rest before the actual fishing. I was sleeping in another house.

Next morning at 6.00AM, he came to wake me up and we make our way to his house which is opposite of where I stayed that night.

When first saw the fibre boat.

I was like… what the &%$# !!! How am I going to fish on this small boat ??? Damn, what am I getting myself into this time ??? Now I remembered what he meant by the monster toman towing he & his friend round the reservoir for 1 hr…

I tell myself, got boat better than no boat. What the hells, let fish man !!!

The drive is another 3KM away from his house…

This undisclose toman location is so discreet that only the local ppls know about it.

The sighs of this place is simply magnificant…
