Typically known for rubber shoes, kasut getah, bowling shoes, etc… Another best bet is to term it as the footwear most hikers, jungle trekkers or mountain climbers wear. Sometimes the shop-keeper wouldnt know. Another place you could look at is near manjalara area.
I’ve tried out the great modification by Jerry himself ! Hands down, its the smartest modification ever, literally there are no sands or fine stones in your shoes, which is a breeze when you wade/trek rivers and muddy terrains. On top of that, this gives you extra layers to avoid those leeches feasting on you. Yes, wearing to layer socks works for avoiding blisters and leeches as well ! So far, sewing on a good pair of socks might look aesthetically not pleasing but if you could source Neoprene material with quality YKK zippers to custom it.. You’re good to go with great fashion sense

or any kampong with the folks mostly rubber tappers…you can
drop into any grocer in the area and ask for the shoes…
or any shoe retailers in town with so many rubber estates..
because the shoes are on demand there…
Yeah, you reside there ! You’ll be the best person to lead Fishie..ehehe.. Last i bought mine was in Taman Bukit Maluri.. and that time i bought was the Strike Fit brand. Very durable pair as it served me well for many trips until i find the gripping and thread to worn off slowly. But last I saw, the brand did a major cost down and its really soft and using less material. Sad to say the quality has been deteriorating and the price been going up !..hehehe…if not where got ppl continue buying it..
