guys, saw alot of spyderco, cold steel and what have you knives etc at SKL DIY Hardware Shop, same row with Publc Bank Damansara Utama. easily more than RM100K worth of knives. Hope this helps.

Can’t get Spyderco in Sabah and not to mention other well known brand(Cold Steel,Boker…etc)…only CRKT

Well, actually - I have only a few SOGs like their JetEdge, Ti-Vision, Powerlock tool and Cross Grip..
The JetEdge (top) and Ti-Vision (bottom) both knives were manufactured in Japan under liscence by G-Sakai. Since Lion Archery has stopped bringing in these babies, its hard to find them…

Yes you can. Bear in mind that there is a 25% Duty and 10% sales tax. You pay tax = your goods a legal!

I think at RM100K value, this is highly exaggarated lah. Even if the shop marked up 300% on their shelf price, I still think its impossible to reach that total value. Anyways, thanks for pointing out that hardware shop. With good people like Uncle Bob around, I don’t think I want to patronise that shop. These are my reasons –
- Lousy counter service - they don’t know their stuff and assume that all that ask are idiots
- Cheap stuff ‘chop kapak’ and ‘chop burung’ knives passed off as ‘premium’ cutlery.
- They sell crap and want you to think that no other can do so.

Me too love these knife thingy too but my budget goes to them fishing tackle oledi…
However still got a couple of blades.. but I Value most is a pair of original Khukri which I got it from Uttaranchal Pradesh, India… a 15" (British Army std) & a Custom 17" blade but not sure the type of steel… well polished… beautiful pieces.. Problem is I yet got time to figure up to get the photo up loaded…
For My kitchen… a pair of Zwilling J.A.Heneckels, one a 7" Santoku knife… wow.. very2 sharp and rarely sharpen… and another a 7" slicing Knife for my fishing activities… (still looking for its sheath- can help???)

guys, this thread has severely poisoned me. Now im thinking of getting myself a knife. But for me, those spydercos and other high end stuff is a lil to steep for me. can someone recommend a folding knife within RM100 or maybe a lil more, for a fairly good knife, and maybe where i can get them? thanks! they will come in handy when i go fishing!

ps. i’m the one that don’t service my gear after my salt water fishing trip until it’s dead. cos l’m too tired when i reached home and can’t wait to enjoy my fresh catch. will show you the reel that servives after years of abuse.

Ey brother, how can you say this thread had severely poisoned you? [:p] Belum beli pisau, sudah bising-bising.. [:p] Okay, realistically speaking, you can score some knives under RM100 if you are not particular about : brand, make and model. Take the “Kedai Pakaian Seragam Professor” for an example. They sell cheapo knives under RM30. Yes, seeing is believing. While its a “Proudly made in Shengdong, China” product, its still a knife. Morally, that is still right.. But if you factor in quality, fit, finish and reliability, will these knives give you peace of mind? Right now, manufacturers in the US as well as Europe are producing some of their flagship models in Taiwan and China. This is to keep the cost low and appeal to the masses. Not everybody in the US can afford a folding knife beyond USD$100 which is about RM338 a piece.
You must also factor in the cost of freight, duty and sales tax including profit margin for the agent and dealer. One fine example is Uncle Bob (*yes, I am plugging for old Bob) who has dedicated more than a decade in educating our local knife lovers about quality… Indeed the knives are pricey, but they are backed with quality assurance. If warranty is the case, you send the knife back, the manufacturer will fix it for you and do the right thing. Spydercos, for an example, has been honouring their defect warranty over the years..
One good development if you are looking for decent knife under RM100, is the ‘byrd’ knives from Spyderco. And the Benchmade “Red Line” series that is very affordable. If you don’t mind “Made in China”, then you can stretch your RM100. And to be politically correct also, you can consider a Swiss Army Knife from RM36 a pop.. [;)]

In relation to knife collection I’m looking for Japanese Water stones especially the 8000 grit with nagura stone. Any idea where can I get those in M’sia? They (Japanese Store) ran out of stock.
I’ll confess that I’m also a knife freak. And latest to my collection is the Ceramic Cutlery that I obtain in Japan last week. My first impression on the Ceramic knife were… WTF… sooooo light and sooo damn sharp! Bought together 4 knife along with the Ceramic ones. :)))

I got your Wenger New Ranger knife! Today the Duty Free shop in the United Nation compound in Geneva had a sale and those knifes went dirt cheap! Bought a Wenger Bike knife for my son for only CHF50 or roughly RM145. The knife sheath (aka Knife bag) went for only CHF10.
Wah today alone I bought 5 knifes inc the one you ask for.
