Wah today alone I bought 5 knifes inc the one you ask for.

I suppose you oredi know what's the next question samo, how do i get a SOG(around Klang Valley), i am very much interested at the X-ray models.....

SOG in Klang Valley? Nada! I think your best bet is Eddy Ng’s toolshop at Section 14 in Petaling Jaya. He uses a super collector who is also a lawyer to import the knives. Said to be the cheapest around, but I think you’ll have to see it yourself to belief lah. After all, most people here are very internet saavy, so, I guess you can use what you find in terms of price and freight charges to compare and decide..

Hi Samo,

In relation to knife collection I’m looking for Japanese Water stones especially the 8000 grit with nagura stone. Any idea where can I get those in M’sia? They (Japanese Store) ran out of stock.

I’ll confess that I’m also a knife freak. And latest to my collection is the Ceramic Cutlery that I obtain in Japan last week. My first impression on the Ceramic knife were… WTF… sooooo light and sooo damn sharp! Bought together 4 knife along with the Ceramic ones. :)))

Hi Jerry. I doubt it if you will ever find such stones here in KL. I recommend Sheares Marketing in Singapore (02-63330136)who is a dedicated knife shop. Ceramic blades by Kyocera are sold here at KLCC’s Isetan. Harga pun macam Setan!

Evan, for goodness sake pls go and get a proper 'Everyday use Knife' laa, you can spend thousands on tackles but kenot spend 300+ for something that might save yr life and if you trust yr life on some alcheapo stuff, i concratzz you laa......hahaha.........

Bro, this is a matter of priority lah. Some guys are very kedekut on spending for good stuff. While others assume that a knife is a knife is a knife. And speaking of such, I recall the early days where a few kakis would ‘pinjam’ my barang. Knowing that they don’t care and are at most times – careless, I gave them some ‘chop burung’ and ‘chop badak’ knives.. And one of them actually gave me some shelling for not allowing him to use the good knives. He’d accused me hoarding everything to myself and insisted that the value of anything good should not exceed RM50. Not only this fellah is kedekut, tapi sombong bodoh. So, after exhausting all means of diplomacy, I taruh him kau-kau by telling him that he couldn’t even look after a RM20 ‘chop katak’ knife, how can I trust him with a branded piece? Nanti bagi pisau dapat balik sudu.. [:p], so, at the expense of sacrificing my friendship, I parted ways with the fellah… Sad, but true. When it comes to collecting, not many people are willing to embrace the financial factor…

Docsyed, If you can get the SOG knive I want also.

You can really get a lot of good stuff in Switz, and price is cheaper than here I don’t know why as Msia is duty free right? You must grap as much as you can get while you are there.. like Clock they are selling here for thousands but fractions of price in Switz.

You give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, you teach him how to fish, you poison him for life and he will never stop buying fishing tackles

Samo,

Not knowing the actual price of a Ceramic knife where I bought only one while in Japan last week, I’m damn benggang now for just buying only one. It only cost me RM140!

I managed to buy a piece of Japanese Water Stone 240 and 1000 grit but could find those 8000 grit. I must say that their quality is of top notch.

Will check Isetan’s ceramic knifes later.

Haven’t got many but love my Gerbers, Cold Steel Tanto, Wilkinson Survival Knife and Leathermans Especially the Charge Ti.

By the way, anyone used the Lansky sharpening system? Heard lots of great things and lots of negatives too. Want to find out more before I buy a set.

By the way I have a bunch of Kyocera Ceramic knives, both the white and the black Professional range. Quite sharp but I have to say they are still not as sharp as a well honed Global or Wusthof Fillet knife, or a Carbon Steel Sashimi Yanagi knife for that matter. They have their uses though, Good for fine knife work and cutting salads so they do not oxidise and turn brown. Too light for serious cutting though.

Do not cut anything still a little frozen or with bone because they will chip, (SAKITNYA!!) or drop as they will break.

Hi Izzy,

Busy, busy eh? Took you some time to get in here. You’ll be one who knows how to use a knife since you handle them professionally everyday.

Hi Uncle Bob,
Yes we have been a little busy lately which is good I suppose. Yes I suppose I do handle knives more than the average person though I still get my fair share of nicks and cuts! My Kitchen Knives Have to be razor sharp at all times and nobody dares touch them without my permission. Anyone else using them is out of the question. Mrs Izzy has her own set and the same rules apply.
I firmly believe that a blunt knife is more dangerous than a sharp one as more effort is exerted in cutting with a blunt one which is why all knives in my restaurant kitchen are touched up several times a day.
Hope to see you soon. Take Care.

Samo,
great knife collection. You are probably more of a pro than me. Hope to bump into you in U Bob’s shop someday.
