I find great joy in combining my passion for fishing with my passion for photography as most fishing spots (non paypond) offer great scenery and wildlife.
Take a moment to absorb the natural beauty around you and the fishing experience can be more “whole”
In these days of digital technology, it doesn’t matter how much you pay for your camera, the minute you walk out of the shop it is almost totally depreciated - hehe. Ever tried to sell your one year old digital camera?
The point I am trying to make is not to worry about damaging your camera in the wet - just do it and enjoy the results.
On my trip to Kenyir last year I fell twice while crossing a river and dunked my Panasonic compact (in was in my backpack) and surprisingly it is still working.
These photos were takenn with the same compact. I also try to bring my SLR with me on all my fishing trips unless the weight is prohibitive.
Yesterday i went to Lake Eildon with Sunny and Kamikaze for some trout fishing. Fishing was slow but the scenery was mind boggling. We left Melbourne at about 3am and arrived at about 5.30am waiting for the first sunrise to commence fishing.
I left home at 9 degree C and arrived at Eildon to 5 degrees C (colder in the mountains and at sunrise). The water must be about 3 degrees C.
It was a beautiful sunrise - then the fog rolled in and then cleared up after about an hour. What a magical transition of the same scenery.
All these shots were taken without me moving more than 10 feet -just different angles of the same place.
first light - that black thingy in the photo is a duck
Very nice shots Ben! Beautiful camera work..[:)] I’d like to have a copy of those shots too. Can u pls email them to me at j0nathan6@hotmail.com? Cheers.
You certainly captured some moments there , myself own a Panasonic DMC LX3 which I find to be as good as the entry level SLR camera in lower ISO setting .

Hi Sportfisherman,
These photos were taken on my LumixDMC FS3 - only 8.1 megapixel. Dinosuar by today’s standards.
Good thing is I don’t have to worry about taking care of it. So it is just a tools to use whenever (rain, hail, snow or shine).
Post some fishing/nature shots of Indonesia - I have never been there

Born To Fish Forced To Work
LX3 is the best, almost as good as those DSLR. I’ve seen some picture of it came out better than some Dslr. My daughter has one…I am thinking of one too.

Innerzen,
I have not met many MFN members but even in my limited contacts with the group I have noticed a lot of talented photographers.
Hopefully this thread will see some stunning photography from all. It will be good if we leave the fishing (holding fish shots) to the fishing reports threads and focus here on scenery and spectacular fishing shots.
I agree with you that any camera can take good shots. The resaon I refer to my compact as dinosaur is to encourage all photographers to post here regardless of what cameras they use.
My feelings are that the camera is but a tool to accomplish what a photographer set out to do - getting the composition and lighting of subject right is far more important than just a high quality shot without proper composition.
Hope to see more of your photos

BTW 8 megapixel is no dinosaur, a 5 mp can still produce a good pic, many times I carry my smallest Casio only 3.2 mp and I still get some good pics.

Kurauking,
yuck. I think you have just put off a lot of budding photographers and may even have destroyed a few great careers. hehehe.
Let’s see some of your great shots - just great scenery and no fish , food and durians.
Flicker,
good idea for a thread!! nice photos too. So catch anything on your trip lake Eildon?
I have read somewhere that a camera MEGAPIXELS does not determine quality of photo taken. in my opinion a good photo is determine by its composition of the subject in the photo and the right exposure settings. Of course these days with electronics, a good camera should capture the right color.
At the moment my favourite compact camera is the Canon IXUS.
briank, yr pic look very familiar. Looks like someone i know from MFN. His nickname is baba…[:D]
Ok Flicker, here’s some of my contribution…[:D]
