OK…was at a meeting last night with regards to the June 14th Conclave.
Don’t have all the details so will just provide whatever info I can.
The event will start at 9am SHARP…registration will be on site starting at 8am SHARP</font id=“red”>.
We are expecting about 40-50 participants, including some Singaporeans, so please be there early to avoid delaying the event start.
There will be 8 events altogether… and they’re really simple and fun events, so don’t worry about whether you have the skills or not.
We will have events to test your backcast, line shooting, changing line direction, accuracy, rollcast, loop control, etc. So I’m sure everyone, irregardless of their skill level, will learn something on that day.
For each event, each participant will be given 1 minute to get ready and 2 minutes for 3 attempts. Now 2 minutes is quite a long time, so I would suggest that participants take their time.
For each successful attempt, 1 point will be given. So the maximum points to be earned is 24. When everyone has completed their 8 events, points will be tabulated and the top 5 will go on to another 3 events, with slightly more difficulty level thrown in.
The winner will be getting something…I won’t spoil the surprise… at the end of the event.
Apart from this, our Mr. DronFly, I’m sure many of us have drooled at his flies which he posted on the fly patterns thread, will be there to show his fly tying skills. So those of you interested to learn more about fly tying, can come speak to him.
But again, let’s not treat this as a “test power” event…the main aim is to get fly fishers together and just have fun and hopefully learn something new in the process.
One of the marshalls will brief participants on details of the events on that day. So just come and enjoy yourselves.
And please note that there will be no fishing allowed BEFORE and DURING the events as we need all the space we can for the 8 events.
Fishing can commence when the events are completed. So don’t worry folks. [:D]
I look forward to seeing you all on that day. [:D]
