NO lah…the ROSS only costs an arm only.
It’s an Abel that costs an arm & leg, and a few other body parts as well. Don’t you see Nick Ooi & David Samuel hobbling around with crutches and all… [:D]

Yeah, I know a couple of fellas who just lost a few other body parts recently, but I don’t see them hobbling or seemingly missing anything.[:D]

Hypothetical question Andrew … If you were using an Okuma reel, can land your bonefish or not… 4 times and all?[:D]

IMHO, As long as the drag doesn’t jam or jerky…yes…OKUMA could have handled the bonefish no problem. You don’t even need lots of backing…100 meters will be more than enough.
However, it’s the other big fellas you got to prepare for…like the 6kg red bass or the 5 kg golden trevally…and the numerous other banded and blue fin trevallies that are abundant in the flats.
So ideally, you should have at least 150 - 200 meters in your reel. If the fish takes out more than 200 meters, you’re in serious trouble already. [8D]

It was good fun last week…even though no big catches. Fish is a bonus right? [:D]
quote:Hello Andrew, I'm fine thanks.Hope you are well too. Been busy lah. Nice to see your pix up here. Never mind fishing gear cost any part of your body, as long as it makes up the happiness and satisfaction you get out of it.. . . . that my friend is so priceless. The fish Tan is holding was his medicine that cured his fever. That's why he was grinning from ear to ear as it was a sizeable lampang jawa[:D]

Hello Tony,
Glad you like it. Yes I used CDC not only for the wings, but the whole body. Hook size #14. This is a complete CDC fly which my good friend mario showed me. It’s one of the best fly designed by Leon Links, a frenchman. I tried in malaysian waters and works with jelawat, ruhu. In singapore lakes that run into the sea, it hooked up tarpon and herring. Try it out and let me know.
All best.

Hi Pak Amin,
Many thanks for the info… would love to try it out, but don’t have CDC feathers lah.[:(]
If not too much to ask, can you please leave a sample with Nick for me? … Another question, if you don’t mind Pak … do you need to apply any floatant on the fly? … many thanks … hope to meet up with you at Nick’s soon.

Can, no problem. Will be up in KL sometime next week n will catch up with you then.
In asnwer to your question … yes apply a little bit of floatant on the wing and wet it with your own saliva on the body. It’ll look exactly like an emerger surfacing up above the water.
Cheers
