-KOLAM WARGA EMAS- titans playground...

This place is locate in a quite housing area in seksyen 24 Shah Alam. No major landmarks around accept complex Warga emas, and the pond is just before it & called KOLAM WARGA EMAS. GPS cordinate N 03° 2.141’ E 101°31.266’ (thanks LEE 82 for the info)

I told myself to only write a review of the place after few visits. I wana to make sure that I will not be held liable for future law suit and possibility of mafia hitman on my back due to fisherman style stories with some many sugar coated stories but when you actually try the place-boom-nothing.

I found about this place from StarTrec so all credit goes to him for his R&D and countless survey trips.
You will never expect a pay pond to be in the middle of a housing estate.

My first trip, 1 patin (2 kg?s),1 Pacu (2kgs) and 1 pacu lucut (about 6kg++?actually I prefer this one that got away to be bigger than my red kelisa).

2nd trip with WAI- couple of bandaraya, baby Son hock. Wai hooked a patin about 2.4 kg.

3rd trip with wkl, startreck?1 pacu by myself, sifu wong with pacu after pacu. (8 cast, 8 pacu).

4th trip with wkl and satish- 1 pacu (3kg?s)and 2 patin (2 kg?s each) by myself.

Last trip midnight fishing- 2 patins (2 kg?s and 4.44kg)and 1 big patin lucut (6 paun line finally give-up).

Rate: rm 30 for 4 hours (including jackpot RM6), extra hours rm5.

Midnight rate: 12am- 7 am ? RM36 (including jackpot)

Thursday night competition- rm 35 fro 4 hours, (1st price is rm1000 cash on the spot for the biggest fish landed on that 4 hours). Plus the patin/ pacu jackpot if rm 5,000 if its above 9kg?s and again cash on the spot.

Rules:
No animals organs, treble hooks.
Fish above 4 kg,s need to sell back. (RM2 per kg for pacu/tongsan), (RM 1 for the rest ?patin, rohu, carp etc).
No floats.

-Intrusting facts, the pond owner is a young Malay chap and a keen angler.

The pond is half a size of football field. About 100meters x 70 meters). Quite big if you compare to other pond in KL/Selangor.

The pond is quite deep- 10 - 14 feet with natural underwater source. With this the patin can fight like hell and its norm if you 1000 series reel get de-spooled.

-He took over the pond back in march and so far over 40 tones of fish released into this place and 30+ tone plus are fishes over 4 kg’s.

Catch rate, countless landing by the pro there using only breads.( min 10 fish per hour) and the pro favorite- big head (7-12 kg’s range)

-The owner release fish almost every week to ensure chances of you getting a fish.

The best bait. Roti sedap dipped with pandan / strawberry flavoring. (all my fish caught by this bait)

-best spot to fish. Cash 40yards into the middle of the pond where there is lots of patins splashes..

Cons. The pond do have quite number of snags so it?s big hazard for bomb hooks and cakar ayam. and also the place gets crowded during weekend.

Why I prefer the pond. Nice place with nice friendly anglers, owner who wants you to land titans, and actually stock them up and not shy of giving hints a tips, plenty of parking, clean, quiet environment very close to the city centre minus the jams(20 mins from SJ or puchong).full functioning tom yam seafood restaurant at night with large screen.

sorry guys no pic at the moment..coming as soon I repair my laptop..

well happy fishing dear forumers.
i hope the information is clear, let me know if I miss anything or you want me to add something on this page.I want to make sure all the information on the pond is in the first page itself so easy for everyone to obtain the required info’s.

cheers…[:D]

It’s RM30 for 4 hours (RM6 x 4hrs plus RM6 for jackpots; 3 jackpots for different variety of fishes), minimum charge is for 3 hours.
Any fishes 4KG and above must sell back; RM1 to RM2 per Kg depending on type.

Midnight package on weekends seemed too crowded, not advisable to go.

Contenders for jackpots are usually above 10Kgs (as listed on the whiteboards).

Infact all the payponds located around these area are providing good fishing. Sg Kandis is now back and has lots of huge Pacu >10kg. Fishing price RM5 perhour. Jackpot is RM2. Minimum 2 hours fishing required. Batu Bata is also doing well. Changed hand lately to the operator doing the saltwater paypond 100 meters away. Fishing price RM20 for 3 hours. Jackpot RM3. Additional hour RM5. Minimum 3 hours fishing. This pond has siakap, kaci, leekoh, rohu, patin, tongsan etc. I was fishing here on Friday 10th for 4 hours and got 8 fishes including a 1.2kg lampan jawa and also got a the second prize rohu jackpot.

Kolam JPJ used to be ok but is now dead. The new “very young” owner has run out of money and has stopped releasing fish since last month. Hopefully the pond will get a new management after Raya.

Rabok Bay is very quiet. Better skip this paypond. For family outings Warga Emas win hands down. Beautiful Cafe setup and with good F&B. I take my family here just to enjoy the food when not fishing.

Nice pond indeed !

Went there 1st time last Sunday morning. Fish for <2 hours, got 6 patin from 1-6 kgs. Apparently the owner was kind enough to let anglers to fish for free during the first 2 days of raya (Friday and Saturday). When I reach there Sunday 7.30am+, still nobody at the payment counter, but about 5-6 anglers already fish overnight. Started fishing and soon the fish taken up all my bread (1 loaf prepared only, didn’t expect much actually for my first trip). All the fish cannot weigh in because counter no people working so released back. When the boss came, told him I finish my bait, and the fish all released back. He was kind enough to let me fish for free [:D]

The bait I used is from a member of another fishing forum, Eddy Jawa. His bait is effective in this pond. Just to share his bait (credit to him for unselfish sharing of his R&D) :

UMPAN UPDATE!!!

  1. YOGURT NATURAL MARIGOLD (2 CAWAN) (RM3.40)
  2. KUNING TELUR AYAM (4 BIJI) (RM0.32X4)
  3. PERISA PANDAN/PISANG STAR (3 TUTUP) (RM2.00)
  4. PATI PANDAN EMULCO (10 PENUTUP) (RM5.00)
  5. MOURIPAN (1PEKET) (RM0.80)

weng the above bait..did you mix it with hong or dipped it with the bread?

“1) YOGURT NATURAL MARIGOLD (2 CAWAN) (RM3.40)”

– yeah, I am curious. Sounds like you are baking bread.

yogurt + yeast(mauripan) = fermentation

RK’s various success was also due to using some sort of fermented bait mix.

RK, the creator of the recipe mix recommends to mix all the ingredient with bread which cuts into small cubes (dadu) and hook it like satay at the hook. Then put some of the bread in your palm, put the satay hook at the middle and press it into a small ball for casting. Was using “drifting in the mid-water” method (hanyut/layang-layang)

Vincent, certainly sounds like baking bread/pandan cake. And the smell is really like pandan layer cake [:D] Nice fragrant ! Yes, like StarTrek said, fermented food is sourish taste so the patin likes it. Tongsan also likes nice fragrant stuff and go after the same bait

weng,
So we just mix everything u mentioned together? All the bait get from aquarium shops?

thanks weng…finally i know the right mix. will try this next time..

john..you can’t get this from aquarium shops..this can be found in your nearest grocery shops and supermarkets…hehe..i dunnt if any aquarium sells this mix…its d.i.y receipie..okey..cheers

yea..its mid water drifting…i called this reversd y-flot without any flot rig…hehe(forget the rig’s english name)

yeah its works wonder for patins and pacu in this pond…

i normally used the pandan flovour that they sell in the pond at rm6 per small coughf mixture bottle and mix it with bread…its works…

johnthefisherman, yes just mix it. Sounds simple if you know the recipe, but the creator of this recipe spend a lot of effort, time and money to develop it. Months of sitting at the pond trial and error fine tuning it.

RK, didn’t do much, not my recipe and I’m also the beneficiary of forum reading so dont need to thank me hahaha [:D]

weng,
So both hooks with bread cubes will float up on the surface?

ct–mid water float…let just say the pond is 14 feet…the aim is to float the bread at 7 feet to aim for mid water fishes…

bdw..ct-where is sungai kandis?

red kelisa,
how to make it mid water? the normal thing is to use a sinker and put bread on the hooks. The sinker will sink and the hooks with the cubes will float. But in this case “Eddy Jawa” technique has no sinker but only use bread! The is no float as well?? He is using bread as a stopper or maybe to put weight on the throw?

Anyway Sg Kandis is at Jalan Kebun. I think there is a map in this forum.

The bread ball will float on the surface for 10-20 seconds, then it will “decompose” setting free the 2 satay to drift/free fall very slowly in mid water. So it is called hanyut/layang-layang technic

The technic you mention with a Y rig, 1 end with sinker, the other end with a hook is called batu gantung. You need to know the depth of the pond to effectively use this technic. Like RK said, the middle of this pond is about 14 feet (the caretaker told me too), so the Y rig should be about 6 feet each side to place the bait around 12 feet from the bottom.

Hope this helps confuse further…[:D]

this pond really make you excited when u saw the fish playing the water…really cannot tahan to cast bait asap.
btw,this is the gps coordinate..save it when i was there for the 1st time N 03° 2.141’ E 101°31.266’
