Kuala Sepetang Update?

Ezf,
In Malaysia, 85% of anglers community are not from high income layer. Different country got different spending magtitude in fishing, a luxury fishing boat like what you mentioned will not survive if it operates in Malaysia.
In general, an angler fishing cost on deep sea charter, base on normal capacity of the charter boat, is RM 150 - RM 200/day, approximately. I believe Singapore charter will not be able to make it at this price.

Come back to RM 2,800 for a 3d2n trip, I think it is not too much to ask for full basic food on board. If basic meals are not available, it could only means that the charter is, well, lazy.

Yup ur rite Ktang on the way we malaysian anglers spend our fishing expenses…i thing we prefer to buy more expensive fishing gears than to pay more expensive trip…yayayyayaya…

Well ur damm rite brudder Ktang they are lazy…for 3d2n lunch n dinner will cost about below RM200 for the whole boat and if the boatman ask for another RM 100-150 i surely will pay too after all is evenly divided…is not the price but is the time it take to prepare the food that makes them lazy and all they can think of is make more money by fishing rather to cook for us…

Let me tell u what they cook for us…(lunch) cabbage with dried prawn…friend eggs with yellow beans n can black beans fish…(dinner) asaam kembung (our bait without taking out guts) cabbage with dried prawn (again) n few “hor pau tan” (few only ok???)…
Ahhhhhhh when supper times comes if the leftover assam kembung they will chuck maggi mee inside…yuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk…if hot water finish the curut guy will make dunno or ask u to boil urself but i ask Ah Eng to call curut guy boil…not that we wanna make problem for them but the curut guy n the young chap is too much…

So bruddr Ktang u wanna try curut guy service???/ hehehehheeh…

Oh yah Ah Kong the former owner of Happy Star always invite me to go with Ah Eng and everytime i decline… he n Ah Eng is ok but i told ah kong im very sorry i just wont want their service anymore until those 2 fella is out then maybe i will try again…

Absolutely agree with you on the far reached charters that are out there whom are on a high side. Having said that, the same highed price charters are on the same fishing grounds with local nelayans but with contrast result.. Is this a case of charter pricing or otherwise..? Its up to each of his own intepretation on this matter. Love my fishing in parts of malaysia even though some charter are more interested in ‘ragut’ than long keep of customet interest…

Ouch!!! I could imagine how pissed off with these 2 fellas… Dont worry, I will send your regards to them next week…

A.H,

I don think those 2 fella can change their attitud but hopefully can be refine to more service oriented rather than to look at the sky or being a " sip cheng kuai" when we entangle our lines.

ezf,
actually it is not always the charter owner or skipper catch more fish than paying anglers. In my opinion skipper and deckie are type of people that are tuned to old fishing style and mind set. Sometimes they have better catch, sometimes individual angler get better catch result. I think it is fair game.
But if for bottom fishing skipper parked his boat with boat end facing shipwreck then anglers at both side and front susah a bit…hahaha

Yup ur rite about skipper n deckie the way they think n fish Ktang, sometimes even tho the skipper park rite on the spot also it wont stay long at it cause theres wind n tide to consider n the boat tends to sway away fromt its target too…

Fishing sometimes is pure luck like few month back Pantai Remis skipper Ah Soon took a group out n one of them caught a 70KG grouper by hooking a whole kembung with one side flesh already cut off earlier before he went to bath. After he got out from his bath and skipper told them to reel in n get ready to balik and at the same moment this lucky guy hook its price catch…that is what i heard of him catching his once in a lifetime fish…

Just like when i went on Ah Eng boat the first 2 time…no fish at all not even in the afternoon but everyone got fish…and another time is when i went to PG with Pete…line cut off once and fish lucut for 6 conservative times…

We have to know what tactic to use in every spot we fish but most tactic is the same…

Gentlemen,

Please see attached catch result on my recent trip at K. Sepetang - 23rd - 25th June 2011 via Ah Eng’s boatman. However this trip, ah eng unable to turn up to be with us. So Curut guy take the leads with his little brother (shorty). Our group has 3 pax in total.

Overall fishing, we managed to filled up 3 big ice box + 1 small. “Tua Mau” biggest catch is 17.3kg by the boatman. Our largest catch is 12kg.

It was an exciting fishing on the 1st night. It has already fully filled our 2 ice boxes on early 2nd day.

Few more pictures to come once my kakis email to me. Will post it again later on.

Foo,

Foods are fairly better than past years (at least we don’t need to take regular can food) :). They got someone cooked and bring to boat and will boil it hot. The past 2 trips, they sure got “Tu Ka Cho” and Curry Chicken. Whilst they still served 2 meals a day. As we usually full force overnight and then we slept from morning until afternoon. So, 2 meals should be fine.

The worst part is, we don’t have enough pax on board. So both of them putting 2 rods at front deck. That is quite annoying for me, especially 2nd night they caught the largest “tua mau”. While his shorty caught another 8kg as well. Otherwise, that 2 big buggers should belong to us as well. Even their total catch can filled up 1 whole big orange ice box.

A.H.
Finally, this trip really worth for planning. However it is quite heavy to fund this trip by just 3 pax in total.

Foo,
I met Ah Eng on the final day, he told me that he got his leg swollen, in deed he shown me his leg issue. I didn’t asked much as we rushing our time. Eventhough, ah eng has no authority to decide which spots to go, curut guy is the one who decide where to go. During my journey, I did had a lenghty conversation with Curut guy on the boat, he actually aware the needs to prepare the right foods for the right customer. Even, his malay customer also complain to him as all meals only served sardin can food. So, in order to take care of them, he got a malay to cook for them and bring on board. So, he is getting more consistent malay customer nowadays.

Oh so u guys only 3 pax???// Curut guy n shorty 2 rod each??? Whats the cost now the charge???

I hope the curut guy is sincere bout his words bout the meals he serve…Yup curut guys seems to be the big share holder of the boat i guess coz i see at times Ah Eng just follow what he says…

hell Yeh - only 3 pax!!! Yeah 2 rods each of them [xx(]. They saw that we only have 3 pax with 6 electric reels. So got spares at the front. So they took 2 rod holders at the front.

Latest charge for 3D2N -

  1. If you disembark in the afternoon -RM 3000.
  2. If you disembark in the morning - RM 3200.

Curut guy says they have decided to lower the price in the morning session, as the original RM3.4K is kind not benefit. Which I really agree with. As usually we go onboard in the afternoon. Since now, RM3.2K, it is worth to go out.

Foo, catch like this is not uncommon at international water spots i.e. container ship lane, 55nm off northwest Pangkor, but we may take 2 nights to have the quantity and rarely 1 night you will have catch like such.Normally no catch photo will be taken nor posted because it would not help our fishing. The latest catch was week 24th 5 rods brought back 50+ kerapu 2-10kg and 30+ 2-5kg jenahak, mixed with other fishes.

Wow Kthang not bad on ur trip…so u guys went to Internasional waters? Honestly for me i don thnk i will go Internasional water just to fish but no doubt fishes is abundant…fishing is just a recreaction sports for me n sticking to our own teretory is much safer…

Ur rite Ktang normally photo will not be posted…

Oh ya A.H might be having lunch with me on friday coz he is in Penang now, wanna join us brudder Kthang?

A.H seems like they have increase their charges lately…last time i went that was last year is 2800-3000…Curut guy is bull****ting u for RM3.4k in the morning…

They are competing hard with Lau Kau nowdays and when both of them met at sea, one will round its boat in circle n then just sped off…wondering whats the meaning of it eh…
