They are NOT! You need something with a firm sole, high cut so your ankles are protected. When you buy your pair of wading boots, get a pair which is one size up from your regular shoe size. Coz you also need to get a pair of neoprene socks. 2mm or 3mm is good enough. The socks will protect your feet from the sand that will inevitably find its way into your wading boots.
Can you recommend any model or brand please, sir?

white crazy charlie; minnow clouser; lefty deceiver and any crab pattern. as for what colurs to use, it depends on colour of the seabed.
So Pak Amin… do we have to assimilate or contradict the color of the flies with the seabed? [;)]

Call me at 012-2818943…coz I’m not sure whether our landlord condones the naming of brands on this site. Unless, Vincent says otherwise.
i’m still a beginner i fly fishing…but when i see those pictures of maldives…cannot tahan la…too much poison..if i were to join the trip (don’t know when la…)how much does it cost to go there?
meaning the air ticket, the boat, etc…myb I can start a saving account specially for Maldives.
So Pak Amin… do we have to assimilate or contradict the color of the flies with the seabed? [;)]

It’s best to use same or similar colors of the sea bed, especially the corals. So if you see pinkish colored corals, use a pinkish fly.
Usually the coral color is olive and sometimes there’s also spots of yellow and orange. So best you have flies of these colors in your fly box when you’re fishing. Important you must observe the area fist before you cast. These are tips from my personal experience.
Oh BTW, also must have white surf candies as standby in your box, in case you spot a school of baitfish. That’s an indication there’s ‘ikan kurau’ lurking around.[:D]
Cheers

Flyfishing With Amin
Will take some of Pak tips while saltwater fishing.. Maldives is a great place to do fishing, i think for expert fly fishos.. As for me i’m still new in this, wish to go there but only when i’m ready.. For now i think the local beach can do for me as a training ground..
although i’m very new in fly fishing, doesn’t mean i have to wait for somebody to teach me all the tips for fly fishing…for me it is better to learn from experiance…yes..i can read from magazines, watching videos, but in the end i will still be confused…eg. when i first try fly fishing, i had a negative attitude that i can never cast as smooth as my friends but they all didn’t give up on me…and here i am as a beginner with a bit of improvement in my casting ability…theory is important but it has to be apply in practical (for me, since i not so clever)…so in order to get those precious experiance…i have to pay the price…to pay the price, have to start saving la…no other way[:D][:D][:D]…any way for the trip that you have planned…how much do you pay?just the estimation la[:D][:D]…

I messaged the landlord and he has given me permission to post this item here…
My personal preference for the wading boot is the Cabelas Bone Sneaker which sells for USD69.99.
Go to www.cabelas.com and do a search for this item. The URL is too long for me to post here.
To me, it is a good solid product and not too expensive either.

Cool.
I’ve checked it out. U’re right - it’s cheap! Haha!
But it looks real sturdy too. It should last the one week I’m there… [;)]
I will surely go for these.

Bro…don’t forget the neoprene socks. [:D]
Another item which I think is important, and Dron has mentioned this but he might not be too clear about this. Go buy a pair of lycra tights too bro. Don’t laugh. [:D] You wear this under your quick dry pants. Main reason… you don’t want your thighs to keep rubbing against each other. A few days of doing this in saltwater, and the feeling is not too fantastic. I think Nick has experienced it before and it’s not too pretty from what he told me.
You can get lots of other info from other websites. What we trying to do here is get you prepared with info you may not get from other sites.
Hello Choo aka Tree-vali hehehehehehe[:D][:D][:D](joking only lah)
Hows the going? Okay here's some of my tips from experience:
1. saltwater from beach - use chartuese or white clouser
2. rocky areas - go for olive colors or light orange
3. deep or blue waters - olive, chartuese, blue.
For any of the above, use individually but mix with white belly.
Hook size at least 2/0 or 4/0. You can make either a deceiver or bunker fly between 3 to 6 inches in length.
I just came back from fishing off the Kedah sea (Tuas). Pak use olive deceiver, hook size 2 and size 4, which I manage to hook up small Dorado.
So happy tying and let me know when you catch anything.
Cheers

For Maldives flats, suggest you use hook size #2 to #4.
For charlies you can use hook size #2 and size #4.
Minnow clouser - hook size #2
Surf candies - hook size #2
Fly size between 1.5 to 2.5 inches in length
At the surf, use hook size #2/0. Go for decivers or bunker fly.
I personally like to use big flies between 6 to 8 inches at the surf.
Cheers
