Well i would like to share what i saw today, after finishing fishing i went to local chinese restaurany and 'ta pau' food. What i saw was unbelievable, you know local chinese restaurant have this aquarium that keep the red talapia and so on. this tank was fill with red talapia and 2 baung. One of the baung was dying with its belly up. Then one of the talapia came near and push the baung for awhile. Then suddenly its start to chew on the baung and can see the baung skin peeling out. It was very funny, coz i never see anything like this before. Anyway i told one of the worker there and he remove the baung to the fridge.

Come think of it, is red talapia so agrresive wan ? and another thing i saw at tmn desa paypond, there litte pink spot at side of the pond, guess what…1cm red talapia fry… and a lot of them even some up to 5 - 10cm which swim in right in to chicken cage where keep our catch. There really breed and in large number.

Aqua culture is big business, in fact most protein producing industry is big business. fish rearing is just as big as chicken farming. If you ever visit a large chicken farm, you would be just as surprised that the healthy chicken will peck on a sick chicken. If it was not removed, there would not be much of the carcass left after the day.

By nature almost all living animals being are in some way a meat eater. There are very few if any, pure herbivors. Even a cow eating grass will take a lizard or an insect if it is there for the taking.

It is not surprising then the healthier tilapia will attack the sickly baung. In nature nothing is wasted, if there is a sick or dead fish, its carcass will not last long. The tilapias, lampams, seluangs even the small prawns will join in thye feast.

From my observations over the years, not that I am an expert in “fishology”, the tilapia is not an “aggressive” fish but more of an opportuinistic one. An aggressive fish to be would be the likes of peacock bass or jaguar chilid who will attack in schools onto any likely victims, sickly or not.

Thoughts for food !!!
Here we see many of you gave very intresting statement to prove some point.
Seems to me that this talipia isssue more of a money game,
and not forgeting those careless human mistake make during their greed for money.

Whatever reason one can bring out in this tread to justify things.
I like to share a thought of common senses. Mind you, common senses are hard to find nowdays (because $$ can blind the eyes from common senses.)
Remember : ONLY Those that feel offeneded by this statement are those that are blinded by $$ in their eyes.

1st Question : How many of you remember those days when you go to the lakes garden in your home town and do you remember what type of species of fishes that use to be there?
When I was young, I fish with tin cans in the Seremban’s lake garden, there are plenty of different type of local fishes. I only manage to fish those little ones with my tiny hooks. And they are beautifull fishes !!! TONS OF THEM!!!
Where are they now???
THESE ARE SOME OF THOSE SPECIES that a young chap here named TJS is teaching us adult about the fishes!!! Shame on those who cashSS in amd cause endangerment to our local species.

2nd Question : How many of those species cam you still see in our publics lakes??
I bet you will see hundreds of tilapias before you ever see one beautiful local fish, and that is only if you are lucky.

Yes, enviroment did cause it. but who are those that cause the change?
IF human is not the cause of these, then why is it that we can still find our local species in those wild and under explored swarmps and rivers?

3rd Question: IF the tilapia are not treats to our species, then WHY is it that our public lakes is full of TILAPIAssssses around?, so much that that we cannot even see those other spicies that use to me in abuandance???

To those that think that tilapias did not the cause endangering of our local species.
Wake up, amd ask yourself these 3 questions.

Answer in without the $$ blinding your eyes.

One last thought : Our local species are suffering from human destroying the enviroment is bad enough. Our local species are fighting a losing battle when their ideal santuary are destroyed.
That is bad enough, but with the tilapia around everywhere, the talipia can even survive in the worst enviroment, even under bridge when they are under construction with full of cements, chemicals, and muddy earths. Do you think our local species can survive the battle of survival with the tilapias around?

Its not an issue of whether the tilapia is aggressive or not.
We can see that somehow it DOES cause problem to the suvival of our local fishes !!

Catch & Release but not the Tilapia. Meat huntres please get those tilapia for your meat but release the Kelah and other endanger species please…
. . . . . . . . . . . .

From fishing with tin cans to fishing rods.
From Catch & Eat to Catch & Release !
Give our children a chance to enjoy fishing.

All the wild species should be released back to its own natural habitat, Taliapa is a food source, I strongly disagree with anyone who just dump the taliapa & flower horn to any river and pond, lakes…& etc.. Irresponsible and the sufferer shall be our childrens, grand childrens and great grandchildrens.

Enjoy the fishing process… including fish borrowed for photoshot…
