UFO is an informal group of fly angling volunteers who are committing their time, sweat and money to develop and promote fly fishing as a sport as well as striving for conservation of our fishery and environment.
UFO’s operating principles are that its members will not benefit monetarily nor materially from any of its sanctioned activities, its leadership non-hierarchical with all members being equal. UFO aim to explore new fly fishing frontiers in Malaysia and organize uniquely interesting events and activities that will bring all fly fishing enthusiasts together. We encourage all fly anglers to register their interests to volunteer, as registered volunteers will be invited to participate in the events organizing committee.</font id=“black”>

The 1st UFO project…UFO Bedong Challenge was held successfully at Thye Fishing Village, Bedong, Kedah.
The idea of the UFO Bedong Challenge was first brought up Dr Ling and Yew Kong… a group of fly fishers quickly gather to register as volunteers to form a committee to prepare and run the project. Meetings were call and all the committee member have shown high commitment and all working hard together pushing the dateline of 12th December 09.
The Committee Members for UFO Bedong Challenge are:
Total of 43 participants from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Penang, Alor Setar, Kotabaru, Indonesia, Sweden, South Africa have show their support and the event went smooth and successful.
Other than organizing fly fishing related event, UFO also committed to develop and promote fly fishing as a sport, striving for conservation of our fishery and environment.
One of UFO project that we plan is to help set up Empangan Air Kuning in Taman Pertanian which run by FFLCC…to turn the place become a sport fishing center and make it stay as a fly fishing heaven. ( I believe we all read about the story of little ‘Napoleon’ in the park, who wants to turn the pond into a bait fishing pay pond )
We believe Empangan Air Kuning ( EAK )must be defended, for the Fly Fishers community and for our next generation.
We would call this project as UFO 4 EAK Project, a long term project which need committed volunteers and urgently need to form up a project committee..
If you care about our Fly Fishing Community, if you care about the fishery and environment, if you have passion in Fly fishing, if you want to promote fly fishing, if you feel it’s your responsibility to built a better future for your children… if you have time… Join us…
But before you put your name in… pls remember and think twice…
the objective of UFO… the spirit of UFO…the non-hierarchical leadership system in UFO… the non monetarily nor materially benefit idea of UFO…

Fly Fishing???
I was driving alone all the way fr Shah Alam to Bedong to support UFO 1st project, why not for EAK? Which is 10 min away fr my home… count me in.

ps. I’m sure every one of the UFO Bedong Challenge committee can be counted on to come in. … I enjoyed myself last weekend, not so much the fishing, (did’nt catch any) [:D]… more the catching up with old kakis and making new friends… great Dron…keep it up!

I think the UFO is for United Flyfisher Organiser. Or was it United Flyfishing Organiser? Check with Doc because he is the one who came out with the name. And yes, please include me in the EAK project list. Don’t know where I can contribute but we’ll see.
