The main problem is piling in the bakau poles. Even with the hammering and the pounding, we were afraid the poles would come loose after some time and true enough.
If anyone has any good idea on how to secure the platform in the water, that would be great.
Bear in mind that we are also working on a tight budget.
I will try to seek some advise from the expert. Maybe tomorrow I will try to get him to come over to EAK. Will let you guys know the outcome.

Aiyah… Bang Razor… we need every single hand that we can get… manpower is what we need to put up all those platform… last week, due to low turn up, we only manage to put up one, imagine… another 10 more person turn up… we could have build 2 platform in a day…

For the piling.
Im guessing the bakau piling is coming loose due to floatational force. To fix this maybe we could try by adding weight to it.
Such as…cemented base and then pile it in
or cemented base with hollow pipes at the bottom

Lets try building it this way… instead of the fishing platform build for 1st pontoon…at 3’ x 12’, it’s a bit too small and unstable…
I suggest we build the platform at 12’x 12’… where the 4 corner bakau pole are just to hold the platform position… not for support… I believe this size will be more stable…the amount of material is still the same, but the length extend out is just 3’ shorter compare to the 1st pontoon we build…

How about LIGHTWEIGHT concrete???Those that floats..eg pontoon..i think its not that expensive..Just get any READYMIX concret plant nearby to come out with a mix design..then cast it on land and when set ..launch it in water and anchor it to land.. Just my 2 cts worth..

I suggested the other day , dunno good or not. I think long screws has better holding power than nails. As the platform is floating and not so stable. The occasional bumps and knocks will get the nails to loosen up very fast.
Please consider to remove those float drums. It will make more stable. There’s no high & low water tide in this pond. We dont need them..

Yes you have a good point here. Perhaps we should consider removing the drums and maybe build it a little higher to take care of the ocassional higher water due to heavy rain. Makes for more stability.
The walkway may have drums, but the casting platform do not need them.

I have few concerns on the idea
1)… how are we going to secure the platform to the bakau pole… by tying with rope only, I have doubt it will last…
2)… How many bakau pole need to pile in to support the platform…? those who work last week, knew how heavy the platform are… even it’s 3’ x 12’ not to mention the new proposed size is 12’ x 12’
do we need any bakau pole at the center..?
3)… How are we going to ‘mark’ the position of the bakau pile…?
4)… Bakau wood last longer when they are wet… if we have the platform tie permanently above water… how long can the bakau frame last…?
5)… We will need to tie the drum to the platform to enable to transfer the platform to the right position ( in water..)
On the other hand, I believe it will be easier if we are working on the existing size which is 3’ x 12’… what we can do this coming week are..
1)… to the existing fishing platform, we pile in few more bakau pole…
2)… put in bracing / beams tie to bakau pole…
3)… tie in the platform to the poles and the beams, then remove the drum…
I believe this will work… cos it platform are smaller…

rahiman n me did some refurbish-ment works today(rahiman did most of the work..so credits to him) …did manage to sturdy things up on the first platform…its a lot more sturdy now…things can follow up according to the first platform..but using bolts n nuts..n definitely need to figure out methods on how to stabilize the post (in the case of the outer-most/casting platform)..

No problem… just we need people who have experience to guide us, as all of us have never build a jetty or fishing platform before… we don’t wanna do double work, we need the jetty to be build right from beginning… to cut down the time and cost…and we don’t want the committees and volunteers to over work…
like what I said, we are now like blind man… really don’t know where to go…
