prepare the chopstick bro! cheap and abundant, haha!!
So it is true the chinese saying, If you are good, fighting(or casting) with a branch is just as deadly!

I think chopstick is the way to go, its fun. Just put a single guide at the tip of the chopstick and let see how far you could cast.
Here is some of he activities we had for the instructors. Let see if anybody can beat Paul Arden’s massive 122ft 9" on a 5wt rod.

Just for the record, Peter Hayes’s cast was only 3" off Paul Arden’s 122’ 9". Between Paul Arden’s, Peter Hayes’s, Matt Howell’s and Greg Jackson’s casts was only less than 10" apart.
I’m not a distance caster so it was an absolute delight to watch these guys casting.

It is a shame that some of the guys cant make it to this once in a lifetime opportunity to learn from a world class instructor. Anyway all programs are still on track. Could we have an indication from the participants as to which is their preferred day for personal coaching ie friday 28may or saturday 29may. It will be a full day event. Sunday 30may is for everybody who is interested in what a CI test is all about.
Peter will be down here with his girlfriend(an avid flyfisher too). All their dinner will be sponsored by some of us. We want to make sure that they have a comfortable stay.If any of you guys want to sponsor(barbeque, dinner, drinks etc) or volunteer to take him around KL or fishing(free day on Monday) do let Dron or myself know.
Cant wait to get the casting tuned.
Guys,
If the venue of the casting clinis is at SMK Sri Damansara 1, this site has direction info; in form of google map. Tok Mi, Ben or Ling, please confirm.

Photos of Peter Hayes (Master Fly Caster) from Tasmania, Australia - just arrived on 26th May 2010 (Wednesday) to Malaysia. He went to Tacklebox (Nick’s place) to give us some advice, tips and also showing us his fly casting. Was very educational and informative.

To borrow a slogan from the PGA Tour and modify it a bit… " This Guy is Good!!"
I learned so much spending an hour with Peter on the field. The way he instructs is simple and easy to understand. I can already cast longer now and more importantly, i’ll be able to make longer casts consistently.
I think everyone who was there on Wednesday walked away smiling and a whole lot more excited about fly fishing!
Can’t wait til formal lessons begin!
I know Pete quite well, he is very very passionate about fly casting. It didn’t surprise me if he just stepped off the plane (most probably didn’t sleep at all during the flight) and get into it straight away. Anything to do with fly casting, he’ll get into it enthusiastically. And the best thing about Pete is that he is an excellent instructor who generously passing his knowledge to those who want to learn.
Have fun and enjoy!
