Innerzen,
Most of my photos are taken with a Canon compact cameras - A470, IXUS 65 and IXUS 860. I like your photos of flower and textured surfaces like the logs of a fallen tree. I like to play around with the macro settings too, there is another world when we look closer at things. One thing I find when using Digital cameras, don’t use the Digital zoom it produces grainy photos. go as close as possible to subject instead, the picture will end up better.

Taman Safari, Canon IXUS 65, optical zoom(I was not brave enough to climb over the fence and swim across moat to take this pic!! [:(] hahaha)

chefwilson,
you are another traveller eh!! great photos.

[:)]

Sniper,
thanks

Brian,
very nice - when are we going?

Innerzen,
keep them photos coming. I am sure you have many good phots

Chefzwilson,
great scenery. Goes to show that good shots can be taken with anything. I used to belong to a Photo club where a lady was winning competitions consistently with a compact camera and competing against the best hardware in the market.

Caroltan,
nice photo of FV. Makkes it look like a widerness shot. Good lighting too. Congrats

Carry a rod and speak softly.

Please don’t be afraid to ā€œabuseā€ your camera to get the shot you want. Try to find whatever ā€œprotectionā€ (shield with hand, cao, towel - bend body over it) is available and just do it. Most modern cameras are built tough.
The shot below was taken in a very heavy tropical downpour in Kenyir last year. Note the water dripping off Zam’s hands and reel and the raindrops all over the water surface. We were fishing in the rain for about 5 hours and I thoought we should have it on record. hehe
Taken with the same Panasonic compact. The camera was exposed to the rain for only about a second. Bring it out shoot and put it back.

Carry a rod and speak softly.

KK,

You are a real MAN ah!! reminds me of this photo:

Lion and his pride, Taman Safari, indonesia. Panasonic 3ccd video camera

You want the unknown orchid to be identified? I’ve got a friend in UPM who’s into orchids big time. He’s a doctor pokok…[:D] Old frined from my home town actually. If only I can get him via his UPM email..[xx(]

thanks kevinlw, i am abit lazy to go looking for name of those flowers thats why i tag them as unknown. they are very common here.

I still remember the roses I saw at Christchurch Botanical Garden. Took a couple of pics and sent them to my mum. She asked me to take some home. Told her they’ll never be that big in Malaysia. Wrong conditions.[:D]

Sunny, try using photobucket.com. you do not need to resize your pic before uploading to them, you can choose the size and it will upload it.

Sorry flicker, some more off topic pictures.. will be my last!! cross fingers :stuck_out_tongue:

Kevinlw, roses from here are different from the ones in Malaysia. They loose their leave in winter and bloom in spring and autumn.

Here are some of mine. I’ll start from the very tip of North Island - Cape Reinga. There are lots of ledges and they are pretty popular with LBG fishermen. Easy going down but extremely tiring climbing back up. Also here is where the Pacific Ocean meets Tasman Sea. From the lighthouse it is possible to watch the tidal race, as the two seas clash to create unsettled waters just off the coast.
Cape Reinga

Tidal race

To the left of Cape Reinga towards Cape Maria van Diemen another legendary fishing spot.

Te Paki stream and sand dunes. The entrance to Ninety Mile Beach where Surfcasting competitions are held annually with pricepool of NZD250,000.

Akmal playing in the sand dunes

Tourist bus passing through the stream on to the 90 mile beach. One of these buses overtook me on the beach.. I was doing 105kph!!!

Sandboarders climbing up the dunes

One of them…

The 90 mile beach. It’s an official highway with speed limit of 100kph.

Hole in the rock, one of the island off the beach.

About a third of the way down the beach there is a rocky outcrop known as ā€˜the bluff’. Fished here before and it was excellent, have to watch the waves though.

Found this marlin head while we were exploring the bluff.

We stayed at Waipapakauri, the base for the Surfcating competition. beautiful sunsets, enjoy…

Hokianga harbour, another famous fishing base.

Seagulls posing for us.

To be continued…
